• This forum allows conversation on non-controversial topics, therefore no politics or religion. "The Campfire" is an area meant for casual, civil discussions. Deliberate anti-social activity including personal insults, profanity, pornography, racism, threats and purposely inflammatory posts may result in suspension of forum access or possibly a permanent ban from GSR.

The words insight and incite are pronounced the same. But one of them will get you banned and the other will not. Before hitting the Submit button be certain which of the two better describes your post.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Pic of the week game

What's going on with this week's game?

Glad you guys are having fun. I've been trying to sit this one out hoping next week we'll get to see more whole bikes.

You have to meet Gustov in person...then you would understand....lol...he marches to his own drum. :D

Now you have the idea. Dig deep you guys, there has to be something odd or different in your pictures, if not this is a good example.

I don't see anything odd or unusual in this picture.

I have been playing this game on another forum and it's a lot of fun. It gives people the chance to post a pic that fits the current theme thereby opening up more possibilities in many locations.

Rules:

  1. Today is Saturday, I'll start with a theme.
  2. Saturday to Thursday is submissions time. Everyone else can post one (and only one) picture that meets the theme.
  3. Friday is voting day. Vote for the picture you like the most. You can vote even if you didn't participate with a pic during the week. (voting closes at midnight, Pacific time zone).
  4. In case of a tie during the voting day, the first vote that breaks the tie the day after will decide the winner.
  5. Saturday, the winner of the week posts a new theme using an example picture.
  6. The example picture ALSO participates.
  7. Any bike can participate... not only GS's (as long as it was yours when the pic was taken)
  8. The date of the picture does not matter, you can use new or old pics as long as they meet the week's theme.

Summarizing:
  • Saturday to Thursday: Pics that meet the week's theme are submitted.
  • Friday: Vote for your favorite pic of the week.
  • Saturday: The winner posts a new theme using an example photo.
I was under the impression a bike you own or owned needed to be in the pictures..

I don't think bike parts constitute a "bike"...

Here goes Jedz throwing down the rule book from post 1. Just this week is confusing. I'm leaving my post and letting it ride...

Well, it's Friday Vote Day. I vote for KERRFUNK, if for nothing else, to see what he has up his sleeve for the next subject. ☺

I continue to be befuddled.
Still don't really understand the theme, or how it applies to some of the photos.
(But, that's my problem...the light will probably come on later)

Nonetheless, this game is a hoot, and we did get some fun, interesting photos.

So not understanding the theme, my vote goes to Dorkburger, because it made me laugh...:D

Even though I really like Wacky's and Baatfam's on an artistic level, humor gets my vote for DorkieDude! Utmost respect intended. cg

Busy day..... just catching up now...
Poeople tend to overthink when rules aren't clear...

Despite the existence an another 1100e.....
I'm voting for Trevor.... How often does a simple old school GS get to rub shoulders with a frikkin Britten?!

I have to go with Trevor's. Not only is the Britten pretty special so is having a GSR members GS1000S featured at Quail.

It seems that everyone is busy today, while I watch the rain.......
Voting was as follows-
Two for Trevor.
Two for Kerrfunk.
Four for myself....
My pic is one of many reasons why the wife and kids say that I'm wierd. They are probably right;)

This week will be a picture of your bike casting a shadow.
http://Untitled by Glen Brenner, on Flickr

Just an add regarding this week.
The bike does not need to be fully in the picture as mine was. A part of it or even its shadow only is fine.

This was a few years ago near mu house on my 83 1100e...I remember riding racing my shadow down the highway...pulled my phone out for a quick pic....:)

A few years back on a cold winter day on my SV650....I have a lot of nice shadow pics with my bikes but chose this one because of the early sunset and ice crusted snow on the ground. You have to ride year round in New England to fully benefit from the bikes! If I remember correctly it was around 20F the day of this pic. Just be careful and pic your spots for road conditions!! Black ice can end your day real quick...or worse! :(
