Deliberate anti-social activity including personal insults, profanity, pornography, racism, threats and purposely inflammatory posts may result in suspension of forum access or possibly a permanent ban from GSR.

DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Pic of the week game

Duty.....

My idea was to find a veterans grave (preferably KIA) in town cemetery ... to pose some scene..... found several........

what struck me about this one was he is a vietnam vet and about 1 1/2 years younger than me, when I have been thinking that most all were older than me by 2 or more years.
Andrew H Nelson, Mich, PFC USMC, Vietnam, #### 1954 - June 11 1972
(I was unsuccessful in finding other info about him.)
(I know a couple Nelson families since I have lived in area since 1979.)

I dont know if this guy served out of a sense of duty, or was drafted, or enlisted as a form of employment, or what......
And are others there WWI, WWII, Korea and others, and monument to "all".
And a monument to Spanish-American War veterans. Huh, knowledge of that escaped my memory, so I had to look up some info on that.

Sense of Duty?
Parked in front of Gillian's Place which is the largest Shelter for Women in my city.
Their annual fundraiser was to "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" with men donning pink or red high heels for a stroll in the mall.
Not for me so instead i painted some old Alpinestars pink and went for a ride to raise awareness and funds.

Happy Friday GSR...Sorry for the delay. Ran into a little trouble with one of the photos...

Anyway....On to the theme of the week by Burque73 (Roger)

The theme....Duty calls!

And that should be all of them.

Let us know if anything is amiss, and don't forget to vote.

Redman.
Weirdly, the deceased soldier is almost exactly the same age as me, and my folks were seriously thinking of emigrating to the US in the mid-60s... would have had me caught in the last draft, perhaps, but by that time the drafts were tailing off.

Steve gets my vote.

Death in war I terrible. Especially the innocent. The on going violence against woman by men isn't recognised enough.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/sep/26/femicide-us-silent-epidemic

According to the CDC, homicide is the fourth leading cause of death for girls and women one to 19 years old, and the fifth leading cause of death for women 20 to 44.

In Australia
  • On average, one woman a week is murdered by her current or former partner.[SUP]1[/SUP]
  • 1 in 3 women (30.5%) has experienced physical violence since the age of 15.[SUP]2[/SUP]
  • 1 in 5 women (18%) has experienced sexual violence since the age of 15.[SUP]3[/SUP]
  • 1 in 3 women (31.1%) has experienced physical and/or sexual violence perpetrated by a man they know.[SUP]4[/SUP]
  • 1 in 4 women (23%) has experienced physical or sexual violence by a current or former intimate partner since age 15.[SUP]5[/SUP]
  • 1 in 4 women (23%) has experienced emotional abuse by a current or former partner since the age of 15.[SUP]6[/SUP]
  • 1 in 2 women (53%) has experienced sexual harassment in their lifetime.[SUP]7[/SUP]
  • Women are nearly three times more likely than men to experience violence from an intimate partner.[SUP]8[/SUP]

Enjoyable pics and storys. The topic allowed for a variety of pics.

liked Bobs twist of the word. Gave me a chuckle.

Vote for Burque. I had to look at pic for a while, huh? What? Oh! Haa! Now I see what he meant. It was his duty.

I cannot disagree with Redman's pic as being the runaway winner, bur I am going to cast my vote for Steve Murdoch and extend an attaboy to 650Skull for his followup on a matter that very much deserves attention. Interesting theme this week. It drew out the fact that we GSR members are not just a bunch of pretty faces. :)

I too, vote for Steve Murdoch. This and every other week. It's simple arithmetic - six cylinders beats four.

It's been ages since I've seen the 'big X' in person.

Good Saturday Morning GSR! Let's tally up...

With one vote each, 650Skull and Burque73
With three votes, steve murdoch

And with six votes for the win, Redman!

Good win, Dave. What's next?
