• This forum allows conversation on non-controversial topics, therefore no politics or religion. "The Campfire" is an area meant for casual, civil discussions. Deliberate anti-social activity including personal insults, profanity, pornography, racism, threats and purposely inflammatory posts may result in suspension of forum access or possibly a permanent ban from GSR.

The words insight and incite are pronounced the same. But one of them will get you banned and the other will not. Before hitting the Submit button be certain which of the two better describes your post.

    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Pic of the week game

Five & six of them I really like. Including marvinsc & cowboy. Including baatfam different idea (again).

Need a tiebreaker. Will vote for Roger Burque. Aside from the distant view of empty road, Parking in middle of the road really shows that not expecting any other traffic.

Hey all. Voting for Burque73. Definitely fits the bill...

rphillips I had a ball riding around town that night. The worst part was dragging the scoot thru a foot of snow from the shed to the street.

I'll throw a vote for "Kat in the grass" Carter Turk... Just to see what he comes up with for the theme.

Hey, thanks for the votes. That photo was somewhere near Rossport Ontario, just a random stealth camp spot.
I wondered later if there were bears in the area or not.

How about "chicken strips". Date code a bonus. Hardly any wear on this tire, but taken today. Tire roughly made in July of 2023.
I doubt anyone will have this in their photo archives, so it'll have to be a fresh picture.

So, Yah, Good, this will get me, and others I suspect, out in the garage with camera.
Since, pics I have of tires are more "tire damage".

Meantime.... let me use my BOTM (June 2024) photo that does show tires.
2024_06.jpg

'80 850G that I had from about 1994 till about 2006 (now in possession of a fine GSR member. Photo is just before He rode it from here to Florida, by way of rallys in Iowa and West Virginia).

Moved the bike into the shop yesterday with the help of both grandkids with the intent of just doing an oil change today. Then I happened to check the site last night so did like Redman said.

I guess I'm still too chicken as the fingers are still on the right side of the tire. Tried to get the year in but didn't realize I moved it up as high in the picture as I did (0724).

Bandit Rear Tire Chicken Strips by Scott Baker, on Flickr

A few years ago getting ready to go on a big trip with some buddies....pay at the ferry terminal and while riding through the terminal my tire went flat, like right now! Lol....called my buddy and he went to my garage and took the rear tire off of another bike in my garage came out to the terminal and changed it there....we had a to catch the next ferry and only lost one hour :)

I don't know why this is still around but it's the first Mitas I bought for my BMW R1150GS. I wanted to show the flat strip on the tire when I first bought the bike from Ohio. Don't they have any turns there?
