A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Thanks. :)

I am not a fan of the seat either anymore.
Need to do something with it.

Hello, I have been the onwer of the 82 GS850Gfor 5 days now and I absolutely love this bike. I have been looking through this thread for the last 5 hours (its a slow night at work). There are a lot of good looking GSes out there.

Congrats on the bike Andy. Looks like you got a nice one. I was actually thinking about painting my 1100G that color. Guess I'll have to find another color :)

Just finished doing a makeover on my GS 1100 G.
This is what it looked like before it got pulled down.

This is the finished result.

Had an original set of decals made at Motographics in Sydney. Painted it myself in 2pac.

Set myself a deadline to get it all done, from initial strip down to completely finished was 13 weeks.
I'm very happy with the finished result

Nice one David, she looks great! Love the colour.

Very glad to see that fairing put to good use too! Did you get a new screen made for it or was that one ok?

Hi Pete,

It the original one, it has a few small marks in it but it looks OK, at some stage I will try to find a new one or get a replacement made.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your comments, in answer to your question "Is that ceramic-coating on the headers?" yes it is, on the last bike I done up, I had the header pipes sand blasted and painted with VHT high temp paint. But on this one I thought I would try the ceramic coating, they look really good and shouldn't show any signs of heat effect. The muffler is chrome, it has a really nice note which is not too loud. Not sure what brand it is, it has Woolfs stamped into the muffler (which I have never heard of if it's a brand name)- some people think it may even be home made.

David, not sure how much you could see properly of the ceramic coating of mine in the basement at work, but you're right, you won't see any header discolouration like you do with chrome. I really like the finish and am very glad I had it done on mine.

Very nice build Highside!

+1 on adding the grab bar.

"Woolf's" is a small custom exhaust manufacturer in New Zealand. But I wouldn't be surprised if like everything else here it is Oz owned lol

80 GS1000G build still under in the works

This is my 80 GS1000G in the works to become a custom street fighter. The work has all been done by me and a lot of swearing. You can see the build as I go at http://customgs1000.blogspot.com
