I am thinking of putting the airbox back on. Looking at the mains included in the kit, a 114 dj main is what they call for with an aftermarket exhaust and airbox. Stock jet is a 110 mikuni, a 114 dj is equal to a 104 or so:confused:
Only thing I can think of is the dj needles alow the main to flow more because of the taper. Anyone running a a stage 1 dj with a stock airbox?

A 114 dynojet main is closer to a 107.5 mikuni. Are you running the BS34's on the bike?

For stock airbox and aftermarket exhaust you would want the 118 dynojet mains. Stock airbox and stock exhaust
use the 114.

I have 34mm carbs on the 1100, the kit came with 110 and 114 mains. I also have 124 and 130 dj as well as 112.5 mikuni, nothing else under 132.5 mikuni.

Disregard what I said, I'm thinking 2 valve 1100.

You've got the 16 valve one.

Stock airbox/ Stock exhaust DJ110, Stock airbox/ aftermarket exhaust DJ 114.

You need to run the 138 DJ main with the needle on the second from the bottom. Also get a set of 47.5 pilots and turn the idle mixtured screws out around three turns.
I can get you a DJ kit 3133 at less than cost if you need one.

I'm surprised you'd need a DJ138 main with a stock airbox and a pipe, seems like it would be too much.

I'm trying to talk him out of it.
If he has a DJ kit use it to it's extreme. Pods and a free flowing pipe.
I've never had luck with those stage 1 jets. They never made sense to me and I would like to hear from one person that had their bike run right with those tiny mains.

Airboxes SUCK!
Just spent the last two hours trying to get it on, and it wont line up properly.
I thought you were running a 137.5 mikuni with K&N's Chef?

I do but that DJ setup worked for me before I got rid of the DJ 138 jets. I wasn't planning on running a stock motor again.

I thought that you current (interim) engine was mostly stock....
138's thats what I put in them and back to the 47.5's, mine is pretty much stock except for the '83 cams and this and that.
2 Hours or so fighting to put the airbox on, 45 minutes and the carbs were back off, rejetted for the pods and up and running.
Whoever invented pods should get a medal, and the guy at Suzuki that did the airbox should be shot.

How is it running?

Its running ok, mixture screw need to be adjusted.
When I went for my ride it was missing/stumbling a little at a regular street cruising speed. This engine has done this and the old one did this sometimes as well so, I am thinking it may be the igniter, I am going to swap in my other one tomorrow, and look for a dyna s for it.

Ignitors are generally a work don't work proposition. What it sounds like to me is lean stumbles. On the pilot/needle transition which is where most riding/cruising is done. Adjust your needle clips. Adjust your pilot screws bt I doubt it's the ignitor.

Ask saltymonk about this one.
