A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Random Photo thread

Great photos as usual from you guys. Out in southern Alberta these days trying out how the new trailer does in the cold with no shore power. Below freezing at night and the solar, batteries and furnace are doing great...yay.

Saw this at my mothers today. All I could think of was, this bird needs a biger house!

Right after the picture, it swooped down and grabbed a field mouse and flew away!

Meijer Garden And Sculpture Park, Grand Rapids MI.
American Horse and two grandkids. View from up on a nearby hill.
Is a few miles from g/kids house where we stay with the g/kids 1 or 1 1/2 days a week. So we go to Meijer Garden about twice a month (they got us season pass). THis day was overcast so I took camera camera.

In this shot, I liked the way the kids legs mimicked the horses legs.

I debated if to attempt to edit over that landscapers cart. I still may.
But then again, I will be back there again.

The Calumet, 639ft.

A big thing like that, up that close, even moving slow like 1.5mph, can have some motion blur at large fraction of a second.
So, crank up the ISO, so can have small fraction of a second shutter speed,
0.4 second here, and still some motion blur.

>> Later Note: And some miss focus here, now I see that I look some more. Something to work on.

For better or worse, I'm stuck at the same job for possibly the next two months. For an antsy type like me who visits multiple sites in a week its a bit of a shock. There are some good things though, work related and otherwise. In the otherwise category, there are a bunch of parks nearby.
This was Friday after work. I love how the water was curling around the leaf.

I hadn't noticed that until looking at it later. Its a fairly decently cropped image. Luckily I was pretty good with the focus. Pic was taken with the manual lens.

Interstring how the reflection is only in the shadows..... and I think the shadow are of the tree trunks that see in reflection ! !

Great.

Ha
Reflection shots are usally seen looking away from the sun, so sun is on the objects not the reflective surface.

Thanks all. With the drought going on over here the brook I've been walking is low enough to walk up either side and in some cases across. The low water has made it possible to try for shots of things below, on, and above the surface all in one shot. Its a fun subject for me. It will be interesting to see how things look if / how much rain we get from the hurricane down South. Apparently I'm being sent to some of my regular sites next week so I may have to wait to find out.

Definitely interesting. I've noticed that if the sun shines directly on the surface of still water it kills off any reflection, and illuminates the bottom, but areas in shade will reflect whats around. The set of two pics I recently put up on IG and FB are a perfect example of each scenario, in the same composition.

Riding by that bike would kill me. You know that most gsr members could make that buried bike run.
