Well that just put a crimp in my next years travel plans. Of course I'd get an escort to the next town to pay it, being a furriner and all.:(

You'll be alright, they give commies a break.;)
Sorry, I've been a little busy, to look for a boat advertisement. I've got the next 4 days off, but tomorrow will be tied up doing the Turkey thing and all.

I've got some good news and proof that there is a God. I passed (barely) the ACT test with only two days cramming and got accepted into Adventist University of Health Sciences. :D

Congrats Rick! Well done!

Well a big Commie congratulations. Typical student though. Hasn't even started and already bitching about studying.;)

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I'll give it my best. Now I'll have to figure which major to go for. The choice is Radiologists, or Occupational Therapist Assistant. Either one will be a boost in the wallet.

Congrats. Yes, you have a two year adventure comming up. How long it been since you were a student? That school local to you?

Got my sights on a marina boat sign if I can get out Sunday afternoon (you guys can tolerate a Honda Shadow 500, eh). Maybe you will say that you cant let a Michigan guy beat you on that.

I went back to school(ITT) in '98 and graduated in '99, with an AS in Manual/CADD Drafting. Sadly, not much work in drafting down here.

The school is Adventist University of Health Sciences in Winter Park. It's located 15-30 minutes south of me, depending the time of day and traffic. Luckily they are working on a comuter rail, that will have a station less than a mile from me and one right at Florida South. The hospital that is associated with the university. I'm hopeing to secure part time work there, to help pay for school and also get my foot in the door. If I can keep up the grades, it should work out nice. Bonus, it's a Christian school, that requires biblical studies. I'm not Seventh Day, but I do observe the Sabbath, so it's all good.

36 degrees. THought marina had boat with sign.
Took cover off Shadow 500.
Went for ride.

Went past 5 or so marinas around here. No boat-signs.
I knew there was, but maybe that was 10 yeaars ago. DOAH Cant tell a memory of ten years ago from current fact. Scheesch.

Did find this boat, with a sign, but really isnt advertizment, and is not ON the boat. But had fun hopping the curb and riding in meadian or what might be concidered a public park. Must have made a spectical of myself at the bussiest intersection there is around here.

okay, not really a boat with advetisment sign on it.

Went back to some of the marinas and rode around thru all the empty slips and such.

Found this.
Is a boat with an advertizmment sign.
Is a sign advertizing the broker that has the boat for sale. But isnt painted on the boat, and is not like the name of the boat.
But is an advertizment ON the boat.
IMG_4868.jpg

okay, is a boat with advertizment sign on it, but not really what was intended.

Went around to some other marina, and went in further than would ever go in summer.

Then found this.
Is a boat with advertisment painted on it, there on the back of the boat (I aint no boater, that is the back of the boat.)
And the name of the boat is an advertisment, for itself.
IMG_4870.jpg

(maybe not exactly what was intended, but close enough after all this time,eh).

I will wait a couple hours. If any stern objection, I will bow out. (yes, two puns intended.)

The original post says a boat used for advertising. I'd say yours is fine. It's on display advertising the Coast Guard Station. Trevor's off getting married so......

Swing bridge

Swing bridge

yep, dont expect to hear from Trev.

Here you go.

SWING BRIDGE. Maybe called swivel bridge. This a Rail Road Swing Bridge. So not a little one from a PuttPutt golf.
Can see here that it is open. (Open relative to boat traffic.)
The black part pivots in the middle and turns 90 degrees to match up to the tracks on other parts of the bridge. Can see the operator booth on the side of it.
This is in Grand River and can be seen from the US 31 bridge.
THis is the view I often see of it.

Just for the adventure of it, I thought that I have never really seen how close can get to the other side of it. So went over to Ferrysburg side.
And I found an open gate into the dock area and found a service road along the tracks. Had the big ballast stone, so was rough but stable, had to go quite a ways. WOndered how long till someone would be comming after me. So I am out there in real plain sight from US31 traffic over the bridge.

Before I got backed up and turned around, I though I was gonna have to go for help. Got bike stuck in more loose stones, downhill, up against a railroadtie wall. .
Then later though I was gonna either drop it down the side, or have a heart attack from exertion or get arrested for trespassing or something.
HAs to be about the stupidest thing I have done in years.
Before I got out of there I was having to drag bike sideways - uphill - about 2 inches at atime. Schessch.

They call them turnabouts. It's for turning engines around in track. I used to do contract work for the railroads. Great tag! Not that I'm riding now, but I don't think we have any around here. Especially the one over water. They where sometimes built over the water to kinda kill two birds... Bridge/turnabout. Wisconsin has many... Hint, hint...

nope...Fraser River off Hwy99.

Sun's out. Go get it! The 650 currently sits with the charging system apart, trying to figure out the best way to mount the new R/R (mounting holes on new one are too far apart)

This is definatly a bridge, a railroad swing bridge, over a river.
I dont know if this one can swivel 180 degrees, or just if 90 degrees and back. But eiter way, it is a bridge foremost.

Tag is a railroad swing bridge. Not a turnabout. Not a draw bridge, not a bascule bridge. Not a lift bridge.

I suppose a swingbridge for automotive traffic will suffice, but I dont suspect there are such things. But just not a litle one on a PuttPutt course.

If you find the swingbridge in the closed position (position for train, close for boat traffic) then I suppose it will look like a regular bridge and will need some evidence that it is in fact a swing bridge, maybe a sign or some refrence on a map.
