A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Seat / Seat Pan Crossover

My question is: What other bikes will have the same seat and/or seat pan? If all I can find is another seat pan, I can rebuild the seat foam and covering. Also, I don't really care what style it is (king/queen, flat, original) as long as it will fit.

New owner of a $75 '82 GS750T. Fogged the cylinders and turned it over by hand and it is smooth. Tank looks like new inside (although the gas looked like really strong iced tea - only thicker). All the parts are there and most are in exceptional condition. So far, so good.

The only thing I have found (so far) that is completely destroyed is the seat pan. It is rusted away around the edges for about an inch. This bike has sat outside for several years and there are large rips in the seat cover. I suspect the foam got soaked by rain/snow and caused water to just sit on the metal seat pad, rusting it away. The lock is still functional and in good shape - could use some graphite in the tumblers, but that's no big deal.

Just want to get it going and in rideable shape. Something for my son to ride and for me to pound around town with. Not looking to do an accurate reconstruction back to vintage original.

Thanks for the help. Already found lots of good info on here for getting this bike on the road.

I see you've posted in the Parts Wanted and Parts For Sale sections. No need to cross-post here. But as long as you have, why don't I just welcome you to the forum? :D

I just stopped by to welcome you to the forum in my own, special way.

BassCliff,

The mega welcome is a fountain of knowledge. I have come to the right place. The GS looks to be a fun ride and should be a enjoyable project. Thank you for combining all this incredible information.

You will be seeing me around. Although, it may take several months to get my GS on the road (It is mostly a non-riding month project, I have several other bikes).

Thanks again.

RR / Jeff

Did you find an answer to your question? I am looking for the same info as the seat pan from my 750T is rusted through.
