what bike would i be able to get a wider swing arm off of. i've been looking for a couple months but haven't found anything, i know people have done it. any info will be helpfull.

great website guys

i was able to fit a aluminum gs1100 swing to my 1000 no problem but it's about the same width as the 1000 steel one, your biggest problem is getting a rim that can handle a fat tire.

-ryan

new bikes like occ bikes or like new sport bikes, i am pretty sure the swing arm will handle a real wide tire but the oem rim, chain and brake arm will need to be moved out to clear the tire. look at some of racing jakes posts, he is running a stock 1100 swing with a 7"? drag tire on the back, or look at katmans posts he is using a heavilly modified bandit 1200 swing.

GS1100 swingarm will fit a 180 tire on a 5 or 5,5 inch rim, brake anchor will need to be moved out and chain too, switched to 530.

just so we are all clear.....

the gs1100 swing arm is one of the widest arms out there. wider than the gsxr swings of the early 90's which all came with 5.5's and 180's.

yes i was wanting a fatter tire like on the sport bikes. now where can i find one real cheap?

what are you going to do about a front wheel?

radial on the rear and and bias on the front = rash on your >>???

front tire? i'm not worried bout that right now i just want to get a wider back tire. i should have asked where can i get a stretched swingarm that will take a fatter tire.

it will be a street bike but i'm just doin it lilttle by little. would the 1100 and 1150 swing arms be about the same. and i was also wondering about the length on them

extended arms deminish cournering. Why do you want to extend the arm for the street? Unless it is just the kool factor.

i really like the look of a stretched swing arm, and i would like to run it at the track sometime. so a swing arm of a 1100 or 1150 will fit a wider tire but the brake and sprocket have to be moved out. and how wide is tire compared to one on a new sport bike.

1150 swingarm will not work, its a monoshock like they said earlier in the post. Unless you want to convert to a mono setup, major surgery and mods are needed to the frame and stuff......

An extended 1100 swingarm is going to be expensive IF you can find one. Thats a big IF. KZ swingarm might work also. Or get an 1100 stock arm and have it made longer....still lots of $$$ and what little cornering you had is worse off.

Does your bike have any other mods already? Engine mods?

it's a lot easier to make the 1150 swingarm into a twin shock arm than make a twin shock bike into a monoshock one.

older gsxr 1100 arms are a couple inches longer than the gs's...
