    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Ok still working on getting 81 450 to run right. Cleaned carbs (the right way). new o-rings in carbs. New carb. boot o-rings on engine, new boots on airbox, sealed top of airbox, new filter, vent hose on bottom airbox hooked up, adjusted and check float heights more than a few times when had carbs off. Air mix. screws at 2 1/2. But I can't get the bike to run right (rev up right) unless I cover about 80% of the airbox opening, then it seems to rev. well and no backfiring. I tried spraying w-d around carbs when running and no change. Oh, yeah and it has new exhaust rings. What else should I look at? I can find no holes or cracks in airbox anywhere. terrylee:confused:
 
Sure sounds like blocked passages in carbs. Do the carbs have a vacuum line to the petcock? Maybe it's not hooked up causing a vacuum leak.
 
Sounds like you have problems with the air box leaking. Is the filter sealed to the airbox ? foam type filter should be oiled..
 
I do just have it hooked up to aux. tank so I have vacum line on but plugged. Can't find any airbox leaks by I will check again. Filter is lightly oiled and has plactic holder on bottom and top and seemed to be sealed inside airbox, but will check that again too. Figure I have to take carbs off and check them for the fourth time, make sure everything is open and not blocked. Thanks terrylee:mad:
 
Ok, have to update this thread. After pulling the carbs (they were rebuilt properly previously), cleaning all jets, resetting float heights, replacing the airbox and making sure of no airleaks, the bike ran the same. Few days later bike wouldn't even start, checked everything ignition related and I thought it was a bad ignitor. Was testing one more time this morning and it turned out to be bad connections where ignitor plugged in and where signal gen. plugged in. Fixed all connections and it runs great! Lesson learned replace all connectors! terrylee:)
 
I was told once a long time ago if it sounds like carbs , it' electrical. if it sounds electrical it's the carbs.


don't know if that will help but it sounds like it applys.
