A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Twinpot Brake upgrade on 78 Skunk

Thanks Salty, that is what I get for look up info on spec websites rather then asking here. Looks like I am up for a pair of fork lowers then. Lucky I have not had them powdered yet.

Might get a 310 disk and see if that will do the trick. Being that the single disk is 21mm larger than the dual disk.

There is also a 320mm CBR RR disk too... I have a set of Blackbird disks (310mm) on my shelf but no single brake fork leg to mock it up!

If anyone wants to send me a spare single disk fork leg from a 550/750B/1000C etc I will give it a go & report back :)

If you give me the centre to centre Axle to lower bolt hole & then the centre to centre between the bolt holes I should be able to get a 98% idea whether it will work on the CAD file...

Should the spacers be on the inside of the rotors (wheel side), or outside of the rotor (strut side)? Does it matter? I drilled the rotors and mounted every thing. The kit is well worth the money.

A lot depends on what bars etc you have fitted. It'll be somewhere around 29" from memory with the one going over the mudguard about 16". I run the double banjo on the RHS caliper.

:)

Which bars are you running? I have supermoto 1.0" rise bars that sit a bit lower than OEM.

Last question: Is the thread pitch 1.25 at the MC and also at the new calipers? Im running the 2001 Kawi Concours calipers, for reference. The calipers have existing 35* banjo fittings which I will buy new since Im getting all new lines. Im also thinking of running 35* banjos at the MC so I can angle it under my fairing just a bit. The existing setup seems to be similar but I just want to make sure I'm good.

Thanks,
Matt

I believe it is 1.25 but it might be 1. The calipers are different from a Stock MC if I remember correctly.

I have Daytona bars & Euro Bars. Those lengths worked for both (again going from memory). Please double check (- i.e. don't blame me if it's wrong! :D )

Which pads are you all running on the new calipers? eBay specials for cheap or EBC is about all Im seeing.

I've run various ones... Best performance from Stock or EBC HH. I've run Organics as well. Not quite the same bite but still well superior to the stock Suzuki Single pot setup... I may have Galfer Organics in there right now come to think of it. :)

Can someone take a picture of how their pad spring sits in the caliper? I feel like I put mine in wrong, because the tabs kind of push against the rubber boots....I just don't see any other way of them going on.

Like this below. The convex curve faces out (to put pressure on the pads to stop the rattling.

Awesome pics, thank you! For some reason on mine the two tabs that are bent 90 degrees on the outside of the clip are pushing into the rubber boots. Maybe they got tweaked at some point, they don't clear like yours do. You're the best!

Yes probably bent out of shape. Pretty flimsy piece when it's out of the caliper :)

I still have some kits left for anyone in need :)
