What's the core differences between this & the street megaphone?
Is it louder & more free flowing or??

Anyone fitted one?

I have one on the way after a late night Ebay session when I wasn't paying proper attention.... I also have some replacement Jardine mufflers which should mount up to the stock headers.... Going to work out which fits best with my side cases & then move all the rest on when I'm ready but I just want to check I haven't made a cock up getting the Pro pipe! 8-[

the sidewinder is a true tuned heder and works best with a megaphone and pods/rejeted carbs.

The problem i had with it on my 83 gs1100d was that th front wheel hit the pipe on the very smallest bump.
I ended up with a 2 inch smaller front wheel which made it necessary to modify the brake caliper and mount.

This was about installed about 7 years ago and maybe the cdesign is a bit diferent.
I still run the pipe with my gsxxxrrr 750ed.

If you like NASCAR it will probably work out OK for you.
OK for drag racing too.
If you like to turn right as well as left you won't have much cornering clearance.
Around here the roads turn both ways, so it would suck.

I never do twisties and the bike is lowered 2 inches. I never scrape the pipe but if you like to do twisties its not for you unless you modify the angle of the megaphone to point up about 2 inches

Had one without the baffle on an 1100 F Honda dragbike I owned in the '90s. It was really loud!

I have an insert for mine which allows me to run glass packimg. It sounds deep and strong with the packing. The noise is extreme without the packing. Mine is tuned for the open meg.

I like it but it would annoy you if it is your only ride.

I only go to thhe harley shop to harass the vrod guys so the noise is very effective there lol

See if I can get some money back.

If the port spacing is the same on my 77 750 i might be interested Dan. I have a VH 4:1 streetpipe now, but its a PITA to get to the oil filter. I read these are a bit easier on that, plus when i get the stones to really irritate the po po, i can pull the meg off and run a tip on it..hehehe

Port spacing is the same as the 750, the header pipe diameter might be a little bigger.....

I had a spare set of stock 750 pipes which I sold, the header pipes were about 2 or 3mm smaller diameter. Thinking back it prob wouldn't have mattered I should have kept them. Can't see the increase making a diff on yours but I will measure everything up as soon as I get it......

Hi Hector,
So the Pipe I have bought 12001-P is much louder but the way it fits to the bike & the angle etc is identical to 12005??
I specifically thinking about ground clearance, centre stand, oil filter etc. Someone told me the 12001-P has greatly reduced clearance on the side it fits.

I've just purchased the 12001-P pipe for my Suzuki GS1000G. I realise now that this may not be the best for me & the street megaphone (12005) might be more suitable.
So I can understand what I am dealing with can you tell me what the key differences are between the two systems in terms of fit & noise.

The shop will let me switch it out for the street pipe for an extra $85.... brings my total to $320.

I might just do that & then decide to use it or sell it on... I think the street will sell far easier than the pro pipe so could be a better bet. Either way I'm in for a loss

I can't believe the non-response you got from Vance and Hines. The pro-pipe has all four header tubes to the right, the collector will be right below and behind the ignition cover. The megaphone exits straight back from there. On your "G" model it will interfere with the rear brake lever and possibly the footpeg. You will also have to fabricate some sort of rear mount as the mounting tab will not be near anything on your frame. It is a race pipe, you will possibly run into front tire clearance. You can run the pipe on the street but right hand turns can easily drag the collector.
The street meg system has all 4 pipes downward and slightly to the right, the collector will be under the bike and to the left of center. the megaphone has a slight bendjust after the collector and the mount will be in the correct spot to mount to the rear footpeg bracket. It will clear the footpeg and brake lever. Oil filter access is slightly impaired over stock but you can still get it out without removing the whole pipe.

Hope this clears some of that up

pro is for racing-straight thru, no ground clearance as in go straight ahead only- sometimes chassis mods usually required to hang it
street is up swept ,baffled and offers oil drain plug access

Thanks..... Looks like I can "upgrade" to a street pipe for a total cost of $320... This is about the same price if I'd bought from Z1 or similar so I don't feel too sore (although I could have got it for $20 or so less).

Think I'll probably do that, at least I'll then have a pipe I can use or one I can move on if I decide not to use it. I'll keep it in stock for 6 months & then sell it on EBAY as NOS, bound to make a packet then :lol:

The guy at the shop seems really helpful so far. I'll put up a post blowing their trumpet if this all works out....
