    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • This forum is for placing reviews for parts, accessories, gear and service as it relates to your GS motorcycle. The key here is "GS Related". There is a bit of latitude here but we don't want to see a review on Maytag washers just because that's what you use to clean your riding jacket in.

    Keep your review as factual as possible and please refrain from personal attacks. Posted articles will be reviewed by the Editors and may be removed at their discretion.

    So let's make this a useful addition to the forum! A special pat on the back goes to Hap Call for coming up with this great idea.

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Kosman Specialties still does these mods from what I can see on their website. Does anyone here have any experience with the performance and reliability of such a service/product?

(I thought I'd do this without saying much about it and surprise everyone with a stock looking wide tire so people would be amazed at my injinuity and resourcefullness...
but peoples amazment does me no good at all when I'm dead from loosing a rim from itself at 90+ mph.)
 
It should be fine if it's welded correctly, they've been doing it to car wheels for decades.
 
I had an '83 CB1100 F Honda built into a dragbike that had a rear wheel from an early 600 Hurricane that had been widened by them. Very nice welds, this wheel stood up to 7k rpm clutch drops with a goodyear slick.
 
I've had sandy widen 4 wheels for me over the years and can honestly say that I've never had a single issue with his work on any of them
 
Remember, a wider wheel doesn't necessarily mean better handling. It oftens makes the bike handle much worse.
Be sure of what you are doing. You are severely altering the bikes geometry.
