I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Can someone look up and tell me if a '82 GS850GS stator cover work with 1982 GS1100GL?

I want to buy this as I need this part so very badly and finally found it on ebay in my price range (please do not buy it!).

Ebay item number is 250599798544

Thank you,
-Bob

Different part numbers, no appears to be the answer.

Hi Rusty. I have heard of people having cross reference guides but I never understood if that meant the part numbers had to be a match or the reference tells you the numbers are different but the parts are the same. Just hopeful thinking, I reckon!

Thanks,
-Bob

You can go to site like this and enter the part #s and it will give a cross reference as to what it fits
http://www.babbittsonline.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/1/default.aspx

OK, I think I get it now. I see from the babbits it looks like the Suzuki part number I want is "11351-49002" and it is on a few 1000G and 1100G models from 80 through 83.

Looks like Part Shark has the best price new. I've been looking for this thing high and low and have lost a few auctions when I bid only $55 (for ones that are pretty beat up) so maybe I should bight the bullet and buy the new one.

Many thanks!

http://www.actionps.com/fiche_secti...y=Motorcycles&make=SUZUKI&year=1979&fveh=2148

Now what is really interesting is when I googled my part number one of the search results (link above) shows it replaced "11351-49000", which is found on the 1000cc models of 1978 and 1979.

If it was not for me getting lucky with google, is there someone where I can look for the parts that were superseded?

This is getter better all the time. TomMLC said he might have a 1979 and I'm hoping to see him soon.

Thanks again,

-Bob

If you look up parts at http://alpha-sports.com , their fiches show the supercession history. The fiche starts with the original part number, then if that's been superceded, it goes to the next, and the next, and so on. Unfortunately, their prices are eye-bleedingly high.

To cross-reference parts, the "Quick Look Up" at Babbit's works pretty well: http://www.babbittsonline.com/pages/parts/viewbybrand/1/Suzuki.aspx

It can get pretty dicey if you're trying to chase a part that's been superceded a few times, but these two sites can help a lot.

Flywheels and stators are different sizes on the two.
Unlikely the casing will fit.

Yeah I was worried about width and depth for the stator.

Thanks for the confirmation I should be worried!
