    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

  • In order to help others find info on a particular bike, be sure to put the year, make or model of bike that you are asking a question about, in the Topic Title. This will allow people to pass by posts they have no interest in.

You probably know I am Goldwing addicted - You can be too -- Look Inside ;)

In my experience a well trained Goldwing rider can do quite well - even when hauling 900# ;)
Goldwings require suspension upgrades to be the best they can be - typically they are undersprung and exhausted after a few years of holding up the load.
However I have seen a Goldwing ride with Jedz on a twisty road while he was on his Triumph and pretty well -- The Wing in front of Jedz is my son on his 2003 set-up with upgraded suspension
They soon left me in the dust

I can and do on occassion drag hard parts but I do not have a lot of pegs sticking out the sides --
here I am on the Back of the Dragon in July 2021 -

For ME - I drag the foot pegs when hard cornering - sometimes the under belly will scrap near the crash bars - or the crash bars depending on the road camber

Nimble ? nah ...capable ;)
 
Neil Sullivan brought his DCT Goldwing to an Ozarks rally a while back. He put it sport mode and rode the heck out of those twisty roads. Had no problem keeping pace with the rest of us. And we were not loafing around. Also, I think it's safe to say that he had more comfortable trips riding to and from the rally than anyone else that rode. And maybe more comfortable than some of the folks that trailered.
 
I have not ridden with many GSR members, but I would venture a guess that there might be just a handful of members that could keep up with those two Goldwings on "The Gap".

Yeah, a GS ,might be a bit more "capable", but a lot of the bike's capability is the nut that holds the handlebars.
 
Now you tell me? First couple rides on the 2012 I just bought have been good. It looks good in my garage next to a blue 83 gs850.Smart men think alike!!!
 

Update -
The seat bolts have been removed and re-tapped the holes (All is now well)
The Forks have been rebuilt with new slider bushings, seals and dust seals and oil -
I will be putting them on the bike this coming week -
For Sale - I will make you a deal if you want to get it out of my garage before spring -
In spring it will be a tougher negotiation - but GS folks get preferential treatment if interested -

Something I've been wondering since I first saw armrests - have passengers been known to doze off while riding?

Certainly is a beauty. Was 2008 before the advent of reverse gear?

GLWTS. Does this mean you're in a 12-step program? :eagerness: The only wing I've ever ridden was a brand new one in '75. A hooligan stunt bike compared to the newer ones. I'm guessing more than 200 lbs difference.

Any options that bike doesn't have?

I had a passenger doze off on the back of my Vespa 200.
Mind you, the excess of beer had something to do with it.

Cowboys daughter Charmaine dozed off on the back of my Orange Goldwing several years ago - It's more common than you would think.

Reverse came in on the 1988 version of the 1500 - has been a Goldwing standard ever since (although I have rarely used mine)

There are a few options the bike doesn't have - Navigation is one ;)

Congrats! Hope it went to a good home. My mates Mrs used to fall asleep on the back of his Hyabusa!
 
My first wife would fall asleep on the back of my 850 from time to time...usually on the way home from some too serious partying. I had a tour box on the back to prevent her sliding to the rear and used bungies to keep her upright.
