Years ago I snapped mine off and lost it, I welded on an old pushrod from a truck engine. It looked ok as it had a small ball end similar to original.

New to me 1982 GS1100G. Got it started with a fresh battery and barely ran on choke. Time to clean the carbs...
3 out of the 4 slides are stuck, but overall not very bad in the bowls.

Decided to put the case guards back on, after learning the hard way.
I had a low side crash and damaged the left side case in 2023.
Tried soldering a patch but it leaked, then I added another sealer to the inside and that worked, but the case was ugly.
So lucky to find a clean case on ebay this summer.

Whatever works. I Remember back in the 80's I installed a set of those guards on my GS1100E, slow speed drop ruined the guard but saved the cover. Finally got the paint complete on the 1100E. I painted the tank and front fender about a year ago and just now got it back together after painting the rear cowl and side covers.
That rear rack is a PITA to install. You need 4 hands, tiny little fingers and a blessing from the pope to get it all lined up! Anyone that has installed one knows!Ron
