    A Special Note about Email accounts!
    DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Stator, The GSR travelling mascot.

  • Thread starter Thread starter Flyboy
  • Start date Start date
I thought maybe his last name could be bear in Maori, but that is simply translated to Pea. Maybe another word that represents his free spirited life, but in Maori?

English to Māori
bear= pea
beer = pia
lager = toka
drop bear = maturuturu pea
motorcycle = motopaika
biker = pahikara
motorcyclist = kaieke motopaika
rider = kaieke
  • Meaning: In Māori, "kaieke" is a common noun that means "rider" or "passenger".
So that’s what I’ll make Stator’s surname, even though it’s not a typical Māori surname, I think it suits our boy.

Passport is laminated and all put together in a combination passport/journal. Been working on summarizing his travels into a simple format and not get bogged down in the (now)1284 posts of this thread. He’s had quite the journey.

Well done Rich... Are you retired by any chance?? ;):p:cool: If not I'm even more impressed! :D

Chuck - If you let me know how much it was I will paypal you the money for shipping - happy to do so.

I have a trip to the UK coming up next Summer, if we're looking for a way for him to cross the atlantic I can stick him in my case... just a thought.

Not retired. I wish. Envious of all you guys with all this time on your hands. I’m fortunate to have tools at home and at my office and the skills to do some light graphic design as needed. The actual NZ passport book was found on Amazon for @$6. I found a sample NZ passport template on line. I was previously a pro photographer and still have some of my studio strobes, etc. that I sometimes use a work to photograph cabinet doors and other small objects.

I hadn’t thought much about where to send him off to next. We haven’t ridden together yet. Been a busy week. I was thinking to ride to meet either Glen (dorkburger) in NJ or Lyle (Eli69) in upstate NY or maybe even Justin (jedz123) in Vermont, or even Rob S. In NY City. Now, none of them, to my knowledge, has expressed any interest in hosting, so those conversations would have to take place. Anything is possible, those were just off the top of my head. Lots of places he’s never seen.

In other current events, I’m told that Stator’s “stuff” that had been missing has now been located and will be sent to me shortly. Stator will be happy to have his journal, and I’m happy to hopefully not have to try to recreate his history.

Stay tuned!

Had time for a ride today. Decided to head to the mountains to search for any cousins. Didn’t find any, but we packed snacks and coffee and took a break at a campsite.

Look what the postman brought today. The rest of Stator’s stuff. Thank you Steve! Looks like I will need to update the journal since August 2018. Glad to have it all together again.

Happy to hear that Stator and his gear have been reunited. Love the passport! I want one!!! Maybe some day Stator and I can ride again. I no longer have a GS but my 06 Triumph Sprint ST will cart the both of us. Great job there Rich!

Strange that I can't see pictures here in UK ?. Just a blue box with content not viewable in your region.

That pic is being hosted by imgur, who have decided to be idiots about the UK Online Safety Act, by blocking anything to UK users.

That is unfortunate. I use Imgur to host my images. I’ve gotten really comfortable with it over the last 7 years being on this forum. My employer recently blocked Imgur so I can’t see those images on my work PC. But for whole countries to block it!? Ugh.

I’m envious of those guys too…. I’ve still got some time to hit 50 with my first kid about to hit college in a year or so and another to go as well. Be a while before I get there! :rolleyes:

I’m glad he’s got all his stuff back! Well done Steve! :)

Stator and I took a car ride to Ohio today to meet member Tom 1000-M-CF and his lovely wife Leona to pick up some hard cases Tom wanted to be rid of. Our buddy Norm storm 64 stopped by. We checked out some very cool motorcycles in Tom’s garage, then Tom treated us to some great burgers at a local Truck Stop. Then we were off again for the 4 hour drive through Pittsburgh and back to Central PA. Thanks for everything Tom! And Norm, it’s always a pleasure.
