A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Valve Guide Seals

It's been since I have posted, or even browsed this forum, I am glad to see this forum is still active somewhat. My question is if there is a viton valve stem seal out there, I am thinking of changing mine out.

what did you wrench on today??

I am in the process of replacing the seat cover. Second time in 12 years. The Pit Replica covers seem to crack after that long. And I really don't enjoy messing with all the prongs.

    Split Case Question, Three bond

So I still don't know whether AHM used it or not... I see your point about the grease washing out, good thing the bike never sees water!

    Split Case Question, Three bond

Do you know something that I don't? Very interesting that you said that. I rebuilt the engine and found red grease had been used. It made splitting the cases quite easy and it wasn't leaking so I used it when I put everything together. I have no idea if they had been split prior to my getting...

    Split Case Question, Three bond

I used red grease to seal the cases on my CB1100F and it works wonders.

Just make sure to tighten the engine to drive shaft bolts under the rubber boot. They work loose.

Can you get stock clutch plates anymore?

I am in need of fiber plates for my bike and am coming up empty on stock stuff. I know to stay away from Barnett, but what is the best choice for street use?

    Scratches inside cylinder head

If the cam journal shown checks out as far as wear, except for that damage, and the cap is ok, then that would work fine. Check the clearance.

    Thoughts on 79 XS1100

Personally, I would pass on that model having had one years ago. I didn't like the jacking effect of the shaft drive. Plus, first gear completely crapped out and I had to start in second.

tube or tubeless tyres for 1980 Suzuki's?

I must be crazy because I have been running tubeless for years with rubber valve stems.

My voltage is 14.3 at 5000. The thing I need to remember to do is to retighten the battery terminal bolts after a while.

    Any tips for removing carbs?

Regarding getting them out of the engine intakes, I have levered them out with a tire iron or whatever works. I also have removed the rear engine mounts and jacked up the engine a small amount to give me more room to remove the carbs. You can get an extra half inch of clearance by doing that.

    Battery time, again

My experience with Yuasa is mixed, some good some not so good, although I have always used the wet cell batteries. On the GS, it seems to not last as long as I would expect, maybe 2-3 years of occasional riding and on a battery tender most of the other time. The charging system has been...
