There is no longer a restriction to only annual rides. As long as your ride is a sure bet then I'll list it...

Please note that you may list all GS related events in the forum calendar.

    One final suggestion...
When creating a thread for a new ride, please continue to update the first article in the thread with the latest ride information. This saves people from having to wade through pages of posts for the updated information.

2025 Brown County GS Rally - June 19 - 22

Saturday Rich, Dave and I went to the Williams covered bridge and the Serenity Water Fall

Roadside photo stop

And here is the spectacular Serenity Falls
Dave working the shot

And Rich

Friday ride:

THat morning I had half an idea of where to go for the day, maybe Tunnelton and Medora, maybe stop at Brick Kiln, wander around someways to Becks Mill Road, then find a way to IN62 and then decide what/where to wander around.
And before done with Jay Breakfast, where 5 others wanting to go along.
So Scot led cuz he had a route on GPS for Medora Brick Kilns, Medora Covered Bridge, Becks Mill Road and down to IN62 to Overlook on Ohio River, then further west (construction detour) and then something like BirdsEye , 145, French Lick, 150, Shoals, 450.
One rider said would breakoff after Medora, others said would breakoff later.
(I was thinking that bye about 2pm I would not want to be getting further away from the motel.)

Scots route took us on 50, and then on roads I had never gone before, which was interesting.
Arriving at Medora Brick Kiln
(If you want to find info, look for Medora Brick Kiln, not brick plant).

More Medora Brick Kiln Friday morning.

In addition to the kilns there are these chimney stacks, I think part of the underground plenumns.
THe place is out in middle of fields and woods, but note that is one house nearby that can see.

Scott and Rich meet some local kids that came running from that one house.

Brett inspecting one of the kilns. Of the 8 or so remaining kilns, some are partly collapsed or otherwized filled with bricks and debris, and some are more inviting.

Friday morning Medora Covered Bridge.

THe 3 GSes of the group

(Rich got good group parking lot photo, posted already.)

Then Bob headed out on his own.

THe other 5 of us proceeded to Salem and Becks Mill Road. Becks Mill Road ! ! !
Scott and I talked about finding a place along the side of the road for a roadside-group photo.
Scott found a place and pointed, and we pulled over and circled around and stopped next to each other.
Brett was a bit puzzed about what was going on (ask him about it, he likes to tell about these weirdos he was riding with).

Friday about 1130am.

Overlook Resterant on Ohio River, Leavenworth Ohio. IN62.
That is Kentucky on other side of river.

That line up of bikes, the licence plates would be Michigan (me), Illinois (Ben), Pennsylvania (Rich) , Indiania (Brett) and Ohio (Scott)

Sitting in resteraunt, good view of Ohio River. Then we notice what must be Norms K'saki 400RR in parking lot. How rude of us to not have noticed and go find him. Norm must already be in there somewhere.
A little Later he stopped by.

Me, Ben, GriffinBret, Rich, CowboyScott, StormNorm

Later Brian and a couple others came in. (THey probably already had more miles before lunch, than what I was gonna get all day.)

We followed Scott, proceeded west on 62, including the detour on I64.
Brett headed out on own.
A little later Norms new 400RR went zzzzzzssssssssscreaming past us, wound up pretty good. I quess the break-in was complete, or maybe that WAS the break in.

Heading north 145(?) in some curves I felt bike breaking out sideways quite a bit, OH! some chip-seal patches that I didnt notice. Then I noticed another chip-seal patch but hit it anyway and bike squirmed around. Okay, I am tired, it has been hot, upper 80s, I am hot and tired, I am fatigued. Its after 2 in the afternoon. Let Scott know, am heading back. Okay, look at map, whats the direct route back to Bedford? 150east to 37 north. Ben and I head back. With a little rest stop in Paoli. Back to motel well before 4pm.
Dont recall mileage for the day, maybe a little over 150.

Good day, other than being hot.

Mr. Beard and I stayed another night so we could get another day of riding since we didn't get there until Friday. We hadn't ridden together for many years since he moved out to Phoenix area. It was good to ride with my old partner in crime again. I made it home Monday about 11:30 am. Dave Beard made to his first hotel stop on his way back to Pboenix about 6:30 pm. We left the Rosemount at 7 am. Another good rally in the books. Nice to see some of the regulars again and meet some new folks. Thanks to Brian, Jay and Bonita. Wouldn't be the same without any of them.

Saturday.

I was thinking 450 to Williams bridge, then more of 450, then follow my front fender after that. Looking for scenic things all the way.
Rich thought that good idea. Bob had some info on a water fall out that way south of Shoals.

Roadside stop along 450.

Williams Bridge. Now closed to traffic.

Bob led us on run down 450 and then some little road quite a ways. Was a fun route. And then we stopped here.
9yejXo5.jpg

Bob says is a water fall here, Serinity falls.

yep, found a tall, maybe 30 feet, of water flowing down a steep shale formation, maybe 2 foot wide. Not a lot of water flow. ANd then did "fall" maybe 2 foot, and then flowed across shale. Bob said "this isnt what was in the brochure".

Most of the scene in shadows, but some other in full sun, and was downed trees acrost some of it.

On way back out on that narrow road, Rich stopped to rescue a turtle, but first the turtle had to pose for photos.
Yep, Rich laying out on the road again.

Bob headed back to motel, route 50, I think.

Rich and I wanted to run back on 450. So we did.

Stopped along the way for some scenes.

And I lead us back to this trestle I had seen earlier in the morning before getting to Williams Bridge.
Rich said he was laughing when he saw me stop there because he was dissapointed that we didnt stop there before and wanted to return.

Not laying in road again.

Rode back into Bedford for lunch. Felt good to sit in AC after being out in 90+degF and some humidity. Sat there for a while and Brett Griffin saw our bikes and came in for lunch too.

Rich said he wanted to go back and run 450 again, hopefully not following a tanker truck (nor following me) this time. I said I wanted to go run Tunnelton Road. And we sat there chatting for a while longer.

Did get out Tunnelton road.

Chevelle, way up on stack of blocks, no axle, no drive shaft. Doors leant up agains wall. I didnt step in to explore further.

Here is where is a creek on both sides of the road, and I mean right beside the road pavement. THen the two creeks flow in channels that meet in center of road, under grating and go thru the tunnel.

Other side
NPJIhs7h.jpg

(No, that is not the tunnel of Tunnelton. This is one of a multiple of tunnels in the area that go under the elevated RR tracks.
THe tunnel of Tunnelton is a train tunnel through a hill. I understand the tunnel of Tunnelton is a ways down a gravel road and then is a little hike. Maybe I should find that next year.)

I got a water bottle out of side bag, and squirted it down the back of my neck into/under jacket - oh, that about burnt me it was so hot.

And back to motel, again, about 4 pm.
Maybe a 150 miles for the day. Not a lot of miles, but was out in the heat long enough.
Tired. Hot. Shower was good.
Then was Jays Indian Feast, and hanging out in the parking lot.

Note:
Appears that most all of the pics so far are from three of us that rode together some.
So you should not think these pics so far represent all of the rally.

Maybe was upper 20s or maybe low 30s attendees at the rally (I dont really know).
Some went out on their own, but most went in group of 2 or 3 or 4. So were many different routes being ridden. Many different experiences.

In the evening some of us were talking about where we went and what we saw or did.

Others were talking about this decreasing radius turn, or taking turns at 1 1/2 or 2 times the posting for the curve, or passing a line of eight cars.

I visit to Indiana would not be complete without a picture from Norman, Indiana! 20250621_123340.jpg

Great pics Dave! Thanks for sharing. I've had my 850 in storage for a few years, but she's finally back on the road. I would love to make it out there again. Hopefully next year.

Greg

Great pics and narrative, Dave! And Rich, and Bob, and Norm, and everyone I forgot. As usual, I didn't take a single photo. I'll leave the shutterbugging to the shutterbugs.

Most importantly, this was an incident-free year. Not so much as a hangnail.

I think the most serious mechanical issue was when my helmet rolled off the seat in the parking lot (yeah, I know...) and broke off the locking tab on the visor. Fortunately, I found the broken piece and was able to glue it back into place with a plastics-specific kit from the gigantic Ace Hardware in Salem. (Highly recommended.)

As you can see, that unorganized "choose your own adventure" nature of this little get-together is essential to its charm, and its safety. Nicely done, all!

Robin and I headed straight to my house Sunday morning, loaded up a trailer with my FJ-09 and Robin's shiny new GSX-8R, threw everything we could remember into my van (and forgot many other things), and headed north for a track day at Blackhawk Farms on Monday.

I planned somewhat shorter riding routes than usual on Friday and Saturday in order to conserve some of our chi, mana, mojo, and energy, and I think this worked out well. Still, we were downright loopy by the time we got there and unloaded Sunday evening.

Fortunately, the track day went great. Safe, heaps of fun, but extremely... sweaty. Yes, I think "sweaty" was the operative word that day. So much sweat.

It was 95 degrees, and leather suits don't circulate much air. Still, shredding your tires at a race track is pretty much the most fun you can have with sweaty leather pajamas on.

The Riders at the rally were from several states.

PSl7SG0h.jpg

I think Ohio had the largest representation.

Only one Tennesse, when often is two.
Only one Kentucky, when is often two.

Mr Vermont and Mr Wisconson both had to change thier plans such that didnt attend. And regular attendee Mr Nebraska wasnt able to attend this year.
Past regular attendee Mr Florida hasnt been able to make it last few years.

One reminder, folks: please make sure you leave positive five-star reviews for the Rosemount on Google (or Yelp, TripAdvisor, Hotels.com, Booking.com, etc.) if you haven't done so already.

If you've left a review in the past, Google might ask you to update your review, or ask questions to gather details about what services they have, etc.

Do NOT mention the Indian Feast or the breakfast; these obviously aren't "standard" parts of the service.

Do mention things like cleanliness, friendliness, service, comfort, convenience, the historic building, and all the things to do and see locally. You'll see my review on Google as well as many others.

Positive online reviews really help small local businesses like this survive and thrive, and will do a lot of good for Jay and his family.

Thanks!

Nice to see a little bit of "Salty_Monk" always makes an appearance somewhere.... Thanks Dale! :D

Good to see all the pics, one day I'll add a California plate to that photo ;)
