    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

530 chain and sprocket from a 550

Was checking around for a 530 chain conversion when I took a good look at my 78 550. It's counter sprocket is 14T and the rear is 50T and both will fit on my 82 1100E. I going to swap them out and see what happens at the track. Also got a 1166 13-1 piston and block combo on the way too, so I can't wait to see what the ET's are. I'm hoping for 6.90 or better in the 1/8 mile.

I wouldn't sweat the life of a 530 chain at all. Use a good quality one and it will be fine. The Moto GP bikes and all superbikes run 520 chains and they are running 200+hp on the stickiest slicks known to man. Your GS won't do anything nastier to the chain than what Rossi does to his...And as a final touch, the non-O ring chains transmit a bit more power than the O-ring ones (the seal drag on the O-rings eats up power) if you want that last fraction of a horsepower to make it to the ground. Since you are racing drags, it is no problem to give the chain a shot of lube between rounds and to keep it out of the rain when not racing. For street use, I would go with the O-ring type just for ease of maintenance.

I was thinking more of how the chain off the 550 would go. Hyabusas etc run 530 so life and ability to handle power are not a real world issue with 530 chains.
