A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

i just bought this:

now what should i do with it?

all i know for sure is that it has 4000 miles and compression seems good. i will try to fire it up tonight.

Great find!
I think the GS mentality should apply.
If it is in nice enough shape, restore it.
If it is in rough shape, turn it into a cool cafe.
But of course, it is your bike and your rules.

I'd restore it though the chrome could get a little pricey depending on what's left when you clean it up. Great bike to ride. Terrible bike to stop....

I remember that in like '77, you could still buy those for $900 bucks in So Cal new. They were like light maroon and ivory colored. Not very fast, and not very good handling, but they were solid and reliable and inexpensive. A gold '69 was the first truly full sized motorcycle I ever rode, at 14 years of age. I'll never forget it. One of my older brother's friends handed me the keys. Had to go pick up a buddy and we rode all over that night. I had to have a witness for school the next day!!

Have fun with it. The style was reminiscent of the Atlas, I always thought. So is the name, for that matter.

Nice one! I'm a fan of the T500's... not sure why but I do like them. Next on my hit list after I get my Kat, although not sure if I'll ever get as far as the Titan at this stage...

I'd start with getting rid of that fairing, cleaning her up, and seeing how she goes... if all is good I'd just leave it as is and ride :D

I had one back in 74. It was light and fun to run on. They were very reliable and always at the top of those 10 best buys lists you saw. I never should have let it get away.

well i got it running. damn thing started on the third kick. needs a bit of tuning. the inside of the tank looks like brand new.

took it for a spin and loved it. i will definitely ride this one for a while.

yes, the fairing is coming off.

will post some more pictures tomorrow.

Rode one all over Seattle and surrounding areas back when they were fairly new. Should have kept it, except it wasn't mine anyway. Brother's bike, but he didn't ride it much, so I did.

Very cool bike. I would do to that what I was hoping Joe was going to do with his 250. Expansion chambers, lower bars, better suspension/tires, and stock everything else. :-\\\

a couple pictures with fairing off and a bit of scrubbing:

gonna need a headlight.....
