anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Got out for a short ride with a mate I hadn't see for a while this morning, him on his recently finished 750 Kat and me on my 7/11... I thought I'd gotten more of his Kat in the pic but apparently not.

My son and I rode 180 miles circumnavigating the island of Oahu today. We spent the better part of 9 hours with all the stops and touristy things that tourists do.
Pics will have to wait until I get home on Wednesday since I can't get them off Flickr using my phone and/or my small tablet.

He rode his Triumph Bonneville and I rented a Triumph Steet Twin. My rental felt like a toy but it was fun just the same.

I look forward to seeing those.

Ride today....?

Well,,,, I sat on bike and walked it out of garage a ways.
Washed off the road grime of June 23rd.

Very therapeutic.

Sure did! Yesterday anyway...

The Katana guys are doing their annual weekend ride we call State of Origin (Queensland vs. New South Wales) where us Queenslanders get together and ride south while the New South Welshman ride north and we all meet at a place called Nambucca Heads.

I couldn't do the whole trip again unfortunately but rode a fair way with the Queenslanders.

I ended up doing a bit over 720kms for the day seeing the Qld guys as far as Grafton before I turned back. Next year I'll go all the way and do my U turn on Sunday with the rest.

I started riding just after 6am and rolled in the garage at home at 7:30pm, it was a long day in the saddle! Great riding, perfect weather, I just need to get my Katana fitness up to scratch as I'm a little sore today.

Some happy snaps from the day starting at Rocklea:

Pete,
I second the fact that anytime someone does 720km in a day it's an accomplishment! Glad to see you're adjusting to your well earned ride. Give my compliments to the Kat owner you're parked next (a GS650m?) to.

Looks like a great day, Pete.
720 kms on a Kat is very impressive. I would need a week to recover.

Me too. In fact I did a 750-ish km ride on my old 82 Kat 1100 a few years ago but even splitting that distance up between two days was murder on my body. Kudos and respect!

Cheers guys! I've recovered surprisingly well... that's the first time in my life I've done that many kms in a single day. The main issue has been my right arm from holding the throttle as I've never been real good at doing the left arm throttle hold so can't rest it much.

It would've been easier if I continued on for the rest of the journey as that was well past the half way point but I couldn't stay the weekend unfortunately.

I'm thinking about ducking out for a short ride this morning too :)

Charlie, close, it's a GS650G Katana there, and it's a survivor, not restored. Goes pretty well for a little 650!

Looks like some real nice weather in Hawaii there Larry!

I have found that the Cramp Buster helps me on long rides.

Cheers guys, I've seen them before but had no idea what they were called or what they were like, going to have to look into one I reckon. They're a dime a dozen on eBay although I seem to recall someone saying to be wary of the eBay ones as they don't grip so well on the throttle or some such.

Did my short ride this morning which was great but the wrist/arm is definitely not back to 100% yet so the tip is most appreciated!

First Long Ride in 3+ months

First Long Ride in 3+ months

I finally did it. Got out for just over 60 miles today on the Bandit and really enjoyed the day. I ensured I stayed up on the ball of the foot and moved very slowly when I got on or off so I didn't have any major problems. However, as I have been feeling for some time anyway, the leg does feel like someone gave me an Indian Burn like what we'd do as kids. (That's the twisting I tried to describe earlier Redman). I also realized I cannot kneel down with the left leg propped up and the right flat on the ground as that hurt like a mother..........

I decided to take one of my favorite rides across the Little Miami River with the intent to run south on Corwin Rd into Oregonia and over to Waynesville. But once I turned onto Corwin I saw signs the road was closed 2 1/2 miles down so once I got there I decided to take these pictures with the new camera I have. I'm still learning it but I like how things turned out.

I'm thinking that maybe the road washed out as the construction isn't far enough down to replace the bridge along one of the connecting roads but I didn't walk down to see.

Before taking off I decided to try taking a picture from lower on the bike but from waist level since I can't bend down. I got real lucky this turned out at all and definitely like how it's easier to take this sort of a picture than it was on my phone. I just didn't like not being able to see through the viewfinder very well as the helmet would get in the way. Oh well, maybe i'll just suck it up and take the helmet off for every shot I do while on a ride.

I won't be able to ride during this week because of other commitments so I am really looking forward to getting out next weekend for a longer day.

Good !

Great !

60 miles for your first ride ! Great !
And some good pics too !

Hey, you know what "road Closed" signs mean...?
means little traffic on other side, so go on past it.....
Oh, could see ahead to where the construction was. Oh, okay.

Yup! Yesterday I out over 50 miles on the FZ1. Not legal yet so it was an early blast knowing that cops aren't out yet.

Followed up with a +100 mile ride in the T120.

It's been giving me some grief as of recent. I trust it for the local stuff but there is something going on with it... intermittent running issues and overheating.
