DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Buy Back Program

I am currently in the process of trying to buy back all the motorcycles I've owned in the past. Well, it seems like it anyway. A year and a half ago I bought back the FZ1 from the guy I sold it to. And today, I took delivery via Uship of the GSX1100G I sold to Scott up in Michigan after buying it back. Honestly I'm elated to have it back. Great bike. I only sold it because my head was turned by that evil ZX1100 Ninja I had to have in order to scratch that certain itch. After riding the Ninja to the Traveling Picnic I found out it wasn't for me.

I asked Scott if he was interested in selling it back in case I couldn't get the problems with the FZ1 resolved. I didn't expect a yes answer. So, if the fizzy turns out ok, I'll have to decide which one to keep. No room for both. I think.

$190? :-k

Your house to Scott's house and back is right at 400 miles.

My van gets about 18 mpg with a trailer. That's 22 gallons of gas.

Gas is roughly 2.30 anywhere along the way, so that would be $51 for fuel.

If you value your personal time at less than $17.50 per hour, it would be cheaper to go get it, not accounting for wear and tear on the vehicles.

I'd say that $190 to ship it was probably worth it. :encouragement:

.

If I had a vehicle capable of carrying a motorcycle I would have gone and gotten it myself. Unfortunately I don't. None of them has a hitch. I priced renting a truck and trailer from Uhaul and it was about $250. Trust me, I did the math.

Nice! And yeah, that uShip shipping amount is sort of a no-brainer. You can burn a lot of gas and time fetching bikes.

I don't know that I'd want to buy any of my past bikes again. But I did once seriously consider buying another blue '83 GS850G with 100,000 fewer miles. It sort of felt weird to contemplate, and I dropped the idea.

Hey dd, if you had gotten a ZRX1100 or 1200 instead of the ZX1100, you may have not bought the GSX1100G back. I really like my 1100g, but this ZRX is really fun & comfortable, very light feeling, sporty looking, agile, for me it really does everything right. The GSX1100G is mainly for when the wife is with me, she likes the back rest. Hey, Congrats.

Being a road trip kinda guy I'd have ridden the grey dog to get the bike and then rode it home. Hitch hiking there would be another option but doesn't usually work real well near cities, that's best left for secondary roads in the country.

I bought a car located in Texas in November. Shipping with Montway to Washington state was WAY less than the plane ticket and 4 days of missed work, about $900. Once picked up it was 4 days to cover 2200 miles and deliver to my door, no damage, not even very dirty when it arrived. I also had a bike shipped from Indiana to Washington a couple years ago, haulbikes.com had a $500 anywhere to anywhere special. Came in a purpose built 2 level enclosed trailer. Took nearly a month, but they have a route to deliver, then pickup on the way back to a central location. They load it on another truck and repeat. Well worth it to me.
