doesn't like to start

Ok so my bike has never liked to start if I leave it on the side stand. I have to stand it up on the center stand.(It will start after it's been runnig for awhileshooting to the store or something.) I usaually put it on the center stand from habit now. What would be some of the things I should look for or is this just common?

Tilting the bike might affect the float level just a bit, but I'll bet it's more related to valve adjustment.

When is the last time the valves were adjusted?
If you can't remember, it's been too long.

When is the last time the carbs were cleaned and the o-rings changed?
If you can't remember, it's been too long.

Well, then, just don't plan on starting it before then.

Well I did go for a ride on Dec 31st last ride of the year. And I think there will be another ride or 2 before I get started. I want to ride on the coldest day of the year just so I can say I did it, so we'll see.

Here's a couple of thoughts. When you dismount after a ride and put the bike on the side stand, the fuel in the bowls is still absorbing engine heat. Some of the fuel will continue to vaporize, depending on the heat of your engine when you shut it off. The vents are more efficient on the center stand and both will vent to atmosphere. On the side stand, more of the vapors will enter the combustion chamber creating a flooded condition.
1. Is your engine running hot? Do you have blue exhaust pipes at the head?
2. Do you notice this more in warm weather?
3. Have you checked the 2 vent lines on your carbs to make sure that they are open and clear?
This is actually a well documented issue with the Kawasaki Voyager XII bikes. You learn quickly to use the center stand only.
