A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Front wheel locked up -- Brakes?

If your talking about the studs at the bottom of the fork, they come out. Drill and use a reverse helix bit like they sell at Sears.

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. I never would've guessed it came out. Guess I'll be stopping by Sears tomorrow. Thanks! Can I just pick up a new stud at the hardware store? Is it a certain "grade" or hardness or anything that I need to look for?

I just love these forums. I was about to go to bed all depressed :)

Foolish me. I found the issue

I had put the axle spacers on backwards. The diagram I have seems ambiguous to me. Turns out I picked the wrong way. Anyway, now that they are on correctly, I can tighten the axle nut without squeezing the forks. Hope I didn't screw anything up permanently

Hi Mr. GooberPea,

I did this the first time I took off my front wheel. I got a spacer in the wrong spot, or backwards, or something. I noticed it right away before I started riding it. I could tell the forks were binding up. I couldn't get my caliper reinstalled.

I devise all sorts of things to help me put stuff back together properly. I'll use a sheet of paper, draw a rough diagram, and poke all of the bolts and screws through in the proper place. I'll put a string through nuts, washers, and spacers, etc, to keep them in order. It stinks getting old. The memory is the first thing to go. I forget what the second thing is. :D

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

Duh. I see it on the schematic now.

I'll order a couple new ones from the bikebandit or somewhere. I just really had no idea they came off so I didn't bother to look.

Everyone on the forums here deserves a round of applause.:clap::clap:
