DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Greatest TV Show of All Time

I grew up on Knight Rider.... (and CHiPs...) oh... and the A team, a little bit of Airwolf & Streethawk.... :)

Funny I had exactly zero intention of ending up in California but maybe it was my calling! :biggrin-new:

I rode what were the still-identifiable parts of Route 66 from Chicago into Oklahoma

In late teens and early twenties my closest friend and I lived through escapades that were similar to that show,

I loved these shows (and trucks ) of the late 70s and 80s.
Of course the already mentioned A-Team.
The Fall Guy and his GMC Sierra.
Lone Wolf McQuade with his undead Ram Charger.
Simon and Simon Dodge Power Wagon.

Speaking of cars , when I was a teen and really getting into the car scene, walking through the house and rerun of bewitched was on t.v.

Durwood rolling up in a SS , thoight that was cool ,first time I started paying attention to cars in t.v shows, still do !

While confirming my memory found pic of it and Samantha and Tabitha in SS camaro

Aside from the politically incorrect paint job, Bo & Luke and Starsky & Hutch were missing something important from their cars - a clutch pedal.

Some (unfortunately not all) of the Route 66 Vettes were stick shifts. And Bronson always rode a 4 speed. :onthego:

In mid 80's bought a first generation Honda civic for 50 bucks that previous owner rattle can painted it like the starsky and hutch car , it wasn't a good paint job but from 40 foot not bad .

M.A.S.H. started when I was a little young to figure out that the sounds you heard from military vehicles where from the gearbox and not the engine.

The people in TV shows were not real. Any autos featured were product ads. Imcdb...is a decent website. Check it out
ChIPS had a tiresome herd of cars that re appear constantly. Shot many scenes on nearly completed freeway sections.

I'm too young to have seen the Red Skeleton Show when it was on, but I remember his HBO specials from the '80's. Would watch them when I visited my grandparents. We didn't have HBO.
Funny, and clean. A rarity today.

"...and may God Bless".

That was Red. Clem Kadiddlehopper.

Or the Jackie Gleason show. The Poor Soul, Joe the Bartender, and that bus driver what's his name?

Read an interesting piece about Gleason. He kept a suitcase with some clothes and $10,000 cash in a bus terminal locker in Newark for the day when he would have to skip town on a moment's notice. Always afraid it could all come crashing down any time.

I used to keep a pile of cash and credit cards by the door that led to the garage. If I got wind that zombies (or the police) were on their way, I could be a few states away in a few hours.

Remember bus station (or airport) lockers?

Hands down the best…the Red Skeleton Show.

Thanks for that reminder.

Red Skelton dates all the way back to Vaudeville days.
I think he was a professional clown in those days.

He was a wonderful comedian. ...simple humour...lots of puns....everything was always clean
He had a long-standing reputation for laughing at his own jokes.

I saw him live at the CNE grandstand in Toronto, which may have been his last performance here..

These youtube clips were likely from that visit
