A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have had my 82 GS 1100 at my friends garage for over 4 months.
I decided it was time to try and get that thing running so I could sell it.

Upon arrival I noticed the seat was removed, and the two plastic side panels were also removed. On the left a couple of thin tubes were left hanging.

I know nothing about the inner workings parts that might be missing. Do you think you could help me out and spot whatever you may think is missing?
Sorry for the horrendous quality pictures in advance

Thanks from a bummed and saddened GS friend.

On left side I see sparkplug wire hanging.
Are the spark plugs broken off? I have heard of spark plugs being broken off, cuz some folks want the ceramic part for some sort of drug smoking thingy.

Seat taken off. That must have taken some prying (unless they had the key).

Where in general are you located?

.

Looks like the airbox with the filter is missing.

Battery and battery box.

Looks like the ignitor is also missing

:-k Sounds to me like someone needs to find some new friends.

Sux dude!

That is one h*ll of a first post on this forum. :(
It is possibly the worst first post ever!
Move your bike and get rid of them as "friends"!
Surely, you can find some enemies that will treat your property better.

Daniel

Now why would anyone want to take those parts unless they wanted to sell them? E-bay, Craigslist. An awful thing to do. You need new friends.

No my friends are not to blame I asked if I could store it there knowing full well that the garage faces an open ally. Hollywood/Los Angeles

What does the ignition and spark Plugs look like? I am mechanically impaired.
Is it a cheap replacement? And is it something I can do myself?
Do I need to tow this to a mechanic since I don't know how many things are missing?

Yea I wanted my first post to be a for sale posting since I don't ride anymore.

Where do ya live? I might be inclined to take that thing off your hands.

Set of sparkplugs $10.
Pair of side covers $80 off E-bay.
Seat $100 off E-bay.
A friend that will lock the garage door, priceless.

Sorry for your loss but at least you still have the bike.

1982... I don't think so.

But before you start shopping for replacement parts you should know that the bike pictured is NOT a 1982. Check the headstock (steering head), I believe you'll find that its a 1981.

RAYYY???Help this guy out!!!!In your backyard>.Check on ebay looks like an Ebay seller theif stealing sidecovers.
Was in OC Maryland had both covers stolen off my Shadow500 along with every other bike parked near me had platics stolen,I been hunting on ebay waiting for them to post but its been 10years there long gone, food for thought?

That post is awesome. Let's see if it comes in 3's. The guy would be deathly injured if that happened to me.

thanks for the welcome and the craiglist link, thats pretty hilarious.
Crackheads are my sworn enemies for 2011.

finger prints are all over my bike, should I even bother calling the police?
LAPD btw.
They dont dust finger prints for minor theft do they?

Dust for minor theft? HAhahahahahaha! You'de be lucky if you could get them to dust if they broke your house door down and dragged all of your belongings with them. If they found a dead body in the process of the visit they might dust for prints before they arrested you......

Unlocked garage, facing an open alley in Hollywood? You're lucky the bike is still there at all.

Anywhere away from the tourist areas is virtually sidearm country. I know - lived there for a while. Yeesh

Just read the add..TOTALLY PRICELESS!! Seem " MATT" needs to invest in a Model 1911A1 and cure the crackheads addiction! At the very least set up a video camera in his girls front window so he can ID and hunt the scum down later. Cap about 6 crackheads and the gun basically pays for itself in saved time and shop costs!!!
