GS1000 bearing pin

Finally putting the engine on the 1979 GS1000S together and have come across a query.
On the crankshaft bearings 5 have locating pins but I?m unsure on the end bearing.
The Suzuki manual mentions nothing but the Haynes one notes a locating pin which I don?t have.
Is this locating pin correct or needed
Can?t see any part number on the fiche if it is necessary.
really hoping it?s not needed so I can crack on and close up the cases.
Any advice very welcome

there is no pin on the bearing on the r/h (ignition end) of the crank

That?s good news
i was worried as there is a hole in the bearing outer and matching notch in the case for a small dowel pin to locate but searching through photos there doesn?t seem to have been anything there when dismantled.
thanks again - now to stick the cases together

here is a rather small picture snapped from the factory manual.the r/h bearing deos not have the big dowel pin like the other 5 but if i recall, the bearing on the end has just a small pin that sits on the edge of the crankcase, in a small cut out on the mating surfaces.

That?s the bit I seem to be missing - no dowel pin in the bearing when stripped.
Is this important or is it safe to leave without any dowel pin for this bearing.
As there?s no part number I guess it comes with the bearing - guess I could make a dowel to pop in if it?s necessary

it usually comes already installed in the bearing. i think some aftermarket bearings come without it. i guess it will be ok to fit it without it.

Many thanks again - I?ll go ahead without the dowel. Can?t see any real issue especially if aftermarket ones don?t have this.
Very relieved as I didn?t want to have to get a new bearing and fit it etc.
back to the garage to crack on.

The outer bearing should have a roll pin in the outer race, which is permanently part of the bearing.
It should be.
I found the roll pin in the sump of my 1000S 15 years ago!
I've just done a full engine strip, and sure enough, the outer bearing has the pin missing.
Now, I'd guess it's not essential, but I'm planning fit a new bearing and do the job properly.

That bearing roll pin sits in a little recess cast into one side of the cases. last thing you want is a bearing spinning.. ill take pic tomorrow when daylight
