A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

GS1000 build

uk gs nut

Forum Mentor
Hi, folks. This is my latest renovation build, GS1000E imported into UK from San Ramon California. Frame up rebuild and paint all done in house. All usual checks and update mods done, 530 chain reg/rec update etc. Paint colour is nano imperial blue pearl, it's a bit of a colour changer in different light conditions. It turns purple at some angles. Decals are my own design, something different. Another one saved.

And a before picture.

Beautiful! I'm a little bitter though that you didn't do a build thread!

Question: what's that foam between the carbs and airbox? What year are your front calipers too?

I love it! What a beautiful color and stripe combination. Chrome headlight bucket is a nice touch too. Very beautiful motorcycle!👍

The chrome airbox covers are just that, the filters are Ramair units with velocity stacks. Carbs have been jetted to suit the pipe and filters. Also it has Gerex ignition and produces big sparks !. Calipers are the later type with square pads, I had them rebuilt ready with new seals so used them. I did post some pictures of progress on Facebook UK gs owners group.

Turned out lovely. A friend of mine repainted his GPZ1100 that colour changing blue-purple, stunning it was.

Good looking bike. My question is what did the front fender come from?

Agreed, the build should have been documented here as a whole lot of us do not do the feces book thing.

My question is what did the front fender come from?
Not to sure to be exact, I think Yamaha. It was not a straightforward fit, a little welding and slotting mount holes. I think it fits ok.

Thanks for the pics of the build. Nicely done.
You should be proud of the results.

Nice nice nice!

Looks like homemade brake lines! Love it.

Homemade brake lines... Did you Mak'em yourself? :D

Bikes looking great! :)

Way ay man ;) I went to Uni with a Geordie & learnt all the ins and outs of Whor lass & ganna yahm :D and of course the "Toon Army".....

A couple of years later I worked for a company with a factory in Seaham that I used to visit pretty regularly and learnt all about the Makem's. :D

Some explanation on the link below for any Americans staring blankly at the screen right now......
