If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Looking for new mirrors --- need 130 mph mirrors

I have a gs1100e, but it is frankensteined to look like a gs1000 skunk. I just bought some cheap round black mirrors off of ebay that I liked the look of, but when I got them I found they have plastic backs and joints.

They wont stay put at high speeds.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a tall stem round black mirror set that have a good enough quality to hold at high speeds? Actually they dont even have to be super long stems since I could add anti-vibration risers.

If you're doing 130 mph. there probably won't be anything behind you anyhow.

Light travels a lot faster than that.
Any old mirror could handle 130 mph.

Having to carry a caesium-133 clock on board to compensate adds a lot of bulk and weight. Just like anything else miniaturization has eliminated that problem, you can get them as an all-in-one unit these days.

Gee even if I could find one that didnt twist out of position at 100mph would be fine. Mine seem to get screwed up before I hit 80.

Look for a set of early 1980?s mirrors off the cb Honda?s....good quality ,no vibration. I put mine on years ago8764154C-B6B1-4D9F-BF0D-25B2FB413A01.jpg

I put a set of original GS1100 mirrors on the vibratory XS650 - they're dead solid and great quality.
Unfortunately, the market is flooded with copies of those mirrors and they're a bit pants, really.

Their is a metal weight affixed to the housing of my mirrors. I always wondered if thee largest shim of lead I could get in there would stop the vibrtations over 120 kmph.

They are old and I think the spring that serves to tighten the ball socket bit has lost a great deal of material and strength to rusting.

Is it just the things going askew that bugs you?

The problem with the set I just got are that they twist out of position in the wind...not so much vibration of image.
