My new to me 1987 GSXR 1100 small tire back half conversion Pro ET bike. Is almost done. I had a problem with the new RC Comp rear wheel and had to send it back and they are making me a new one. But she is all done except for the rear brake line, hand grips, and of corse the mounting of the rear wheel. It should be here any day. Started her up yesterday and I got the 40mm Lectrons all set up today seems to have a good idial and revs quick. It is Bandit 1200 motor with a 1216cc pistons and a Nicely porter stock valve head, .380 lift cams, completely stock bottom end with a slider clutch. All Dyna electronics with launch limiter , MPS auto shift box and delay box. It's been a long time building in my spare time starting from a frame, body, and wheels ( rear wheel was bent ). After my new wheel gets here it will only take one more days work and she's ready for the track.

image.jpgPic of the dash. It took awhile to wire this bike up. Oh did I mention it is button start.

image.jpgShould be well under 350 lbs. Hoping for 8.70's. HP is maybe 150hp.

JD, I think you are pretty optimistic to say under 350. I am curious what it will actually weigh though. Looks good! Know anyone that needs a set of 44 Lectrons?
Ray.

what was the problem with the rear wheel? - bike looks good from the pictures- I know you can knock off some more weight with a 18" RC front wheel - and improve your roll out and the same time.
is it a wheelie bar bike ? under 350 would be a dream and really easy to get moving

ray do your 44s' have power jets ? I know you have some other parts I need,, it's about time I get some money out to you-

The rear wheel was machined wrong the sprocket bolt holes were drilled off center to the center collar so the sprocket would not bolt down to the wheel. RC was really good a about getting it taken care of and sent me a new wheel it came in yesterday. Yes I would love to have an RC front wheel to match the rear but the funds were getting tight. Eventually I plan on getting a nice complete inverted front end for it. The front end that is on it is going on my 85 1150 when I get a new one for this drag bike. Yes it is a bar bike all aluminum chassis including the wheelie bars. The frame was stupid light with the chain and wheels on it I could pick it up with one hand. So I think it actually is going to come in under 350 pounds but will have to see when I weighed up in Georgia.

Just for ****s and giggles I put a bathroom scale under each tire to see what the weight is on each tire and it is 125lbs on the front and 212lbs on the rear. That's 337lbs total. I wonder how accurate it is?

I used the same method and got within 5 lbs of the weight that Cycleworld measured for the same bike. Considering I ditched about 5 lbs of stuff from the bike I have no reason to believe the bathroom scale method does not work.

Got it weighed and It's a heavy bike. 410lbs frigggen aluminum frame. The double scale does not work. So no 8.90's for me. So far the best et is 9.27@139.40 with a 1.32 sixty changed the gearing to a 14/54 so I will see what happened today. We are at the Man Cup race in Georgia this weekend.
I need to rethink what I want to do to get to 8.70's time to build a bigger motor or just use No2

Worked for me too. I think I got 560 lbs for my bike.

I wonder if you could find a trucker's scale (maybe a DPS scale?) and see if they'd let you weigh it. Nice looking bike!

I weighed it at the track I am sure that it is right. It's my lead sled.

image.jpgWe'll the Man Cup race was an expensive weekend testing session and a lot of fun. This bike is one of the easiest bikes to ride I have ever raced. It goes straight as can be. I did not win much only two rounds on Saturday. I kept breaking out. I could not resist working on it trying to make it quicker. On Friday and Saturday we had a 10 to 20mph head wind but my first pass off the trailer Friday was a 9.30@139.75mph with 1.31 sixty footer. Second pass 9.29 and third pass was back to a 9.30. Saturday we get one time run weather was just like Friday and I went a 9.30@139.89 so I dial a 9.29 first round the wind starts gusting and getting stronger straight down the track head wind. I got lucky and the other guy red lights so I ran it out and only went a 9.44@137.60 so I Changed my dial in to a 9.39 second round the wind started calming down I killed the light and gave him 3 good baps and figured that was plenty and the bike went a 9.27@138.20 but he broke out worse. Third round was a good race I change my dial in again and went back to the 9.29 and it was another double breakout. I ran a 9.27@139.40 oh! So close to that 140mph. All I can say is being at a race where all the manufactures and parts for sale and some time to kill is not a good place for my wallet to be. I had some trouble with my carbs 40mm Lectrons did not idle or start well so I went to see Paul Gast to pick his brain a little. I got more than I could have asked for he had me bring my bike over to his trailer and he set them for me and explained everything he was doing and why a little does so much with these carbs. After I left his camp I wandering around and found a 54t rear since the carbs were running smoother and even quicker revving now. Sprocket installed, slight timing change, and a 11,000rpm shift chip and I am ready for Sunday no time runs for Sunday straight into racing I should have used first round as a test run to see what the bike would run with the three changes I made. Anyway first round Sunday I dialed the 9.27 which is the quickest I had been so far. I chopped the throttle just before the finish line it was a double breakout again I ran a 9.25@139.80 the sixty footer went down to a nice 1.293. Second round is buy back round I change my dial in to a 9.25 we had to wait for an oil down clean up and the weather changed big time the wind died off completely it became cool and dry almost perfect weather. I cut a really nice light. It left hard 1.291 sixty and I got into fifth gear and did not see him next to me bapped him twice he still not next to me chopped the throttle about 75' before the finish line and still broke out with a 9.24@138.55 I know I chopped at least 4mph off that pass. So no I am not sure what she is gonna settle down to but I find out soon. Next I am gonna put another gram on the slider arms and bump the launch limiter up to 5,500rpm. Maybe I can get into the 9.0,s I know the last pass it made would have been in the 9 teens had I not bapped him twice and I staid into it. I know it not going into the 8,s for Super Comp the way this motor build is but I do have 2 other options finish installing the No2 or install a head with bigger valves. I am leaning towards the bigger valve head for a bracket bike plus it an easy swap.

and with the head swap, you won't have to worry as much with blowing the motor as you would with NOS

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! I told you so!!! LOL!! Glad you got out & had some fun JD!
Ray.

I am very optimistic but I surely thought it would be a lot lighter. If it was 60 lbs lighter I might be able to get 8.70's out of this little motor. We'll I guess it's time for more Head. LOL
