A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Pic of the week game

Thanks for doing that Bob, I tried, then saw yours and took my post down. Curious what you did with Norm's pic to make it show up?
Thanks for trying...The first couple times can be a bit fiddly...
I just forgot it was Friday, and Dave is on grandchild duty...LOL....

When someone uses the attachment option, you need to open it, left click, and click on "copy image address"
(I usually open a second copy of the thread to do this)
In your reply, click in the appropriate quote, click the insert image icon, click "from URL", paste the address, and UNCHECK the box "Retrieve remote file and reference locally"
Click OK - Should be there.

Gustov has an authentic looking salute there, with the casket flag, can see the respect there.
Don has interesting picture (and story that carrys some weight).
I like Cowboys for the pose showing the design on the roof and the steeple.
Roger Burque found a great monument, and found a way to get bike in the frame.
I like Rich's for how the blade is out over the bike (or seems to be). That is definitely a military helicopter.
As usual, Bob has a picture showing great photographic talent.

(Why isnt this getting any easier after two years??)

Without being critical of the pictures, I will just say: voting for Baatfam this week.

Thanks for playing along guys. I know folks are having image hosting issues, and it's not a great time of year for grabbing new photos.

Yes, there are technically better photographs. Bob's pics are always so sharp and well planned, and executed. Roger's, Dave's, and gustov's evoke an emotional response. But I'm voting for gustovh. It's the one for me that, every time I look at it, it chokes me up.

Voting for Gustovh. Not the most beautiful picture, but one that captures the spirit of the topic the best IMO.

This is a hard one. Some of you fellows brought some of your personal lives into the game. I can not vote for one and not the other... I'm going to vote for DORKBUGER and the cannon, cannonballs. Can you imagine the power and sound that cannon would make? Can you imagine the geometry it would take to accurately hit your target? (On the otherside) could you imagine one of them cannonballs coming at you!

Some great choices. I am going with Storm 64. I like the positioning of the motorcycle below and fore of the aircraft oriented in the same direction.
...

I have say I was impressed by Don's use of a prop as a prop , but I think Bourque nailed the theme and gets my vote.

Good Morning!
First Vote Count of 2020

With one vote each - Storm 64, Dorkburger, Rich82, and Baatfam

Three votes for Gustovh

And with four votes, our first winner of 2020, Burque73 (Roger)

If someone could confirm, that would be great...

Confirmed, Burque gets the win! Congratulations Roger. Gustovh got a close second place. Some really great pictures and stories this past week. 👍

Oh, thanks Bob for reconfiguring my picture to normal size. And thanks Don for the vote. (that motorcycle may be for up sale if your interested)🙂

Thank you guys for the votes. And a special thanks to those of you who served in the armed forces. I was thinking that would have been a great theme for Memorial day, but you guys deserve to be honored all year long.

Now the search for a new theme for this week. Hmmmm, be back shortly.

Thank you for the consideration but for us guys here on the site that would be Veterans Day. Your picture on the other hand was the perfect fit for Memorial Day.
...

For this week's theme lets see what the big thing is in your state/ town/ area etc.

If I had to choose one "big thing" in New Mexico, I'd say it is chile.

Big thing? Anyone? Big ball of twine? Popular destination or activity?

Another "big thing" in Albuquerque is the International Balloon Fiesta. Chile is way bigger than balloons though. Ooh, I think I have a pic of a giant green chile balloon.

I suspect lot of folks have such pictures of something that is a ?big thing? in their area. Just need to decide which picture to use.
