    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Like to make a donation and can send a money order but would like to confirm the full mailing address.

Is this correct?

Cliff,

Thanks for reminder.

I noticed that I "past" a month ago or so, and even then it already was a few months past due. And I had already been remindining myself to donate.

Your reminder has been more effective than my own reminders. Check is in the mail, well, to be more truthfull, check is in envelope ready to go out in the mail.

Got on the cycle rings site and donated. Just got back from a nice ride that would not have been possible without the help I got on the site.

Well worth it

Robert Barr has a link to donate at his web site cycleorings.com He gathers the donations and forwards it over to Frank from what I've read.

Thanks Nessism. Have been wanting to donate before but am incredibly lazy and couldn't be arsed sorting out a mail order.
I Have done a Paypal for U$41 gross (incl paypal fees) to make up for my tardiness and failure to donate in recent years.

Big thanks to Robert Barr

I don't even think I have a checkbook any more... in either country! Sorry to say it but get with the times Frank, you'll get a much bigger cashflow stream for sure with a "paypal donate" function :D

Just my 2p

I would intend to be one of the first ones to bung some funds your way by that method.... :)

... and he's suddenly swamped with donations to process!

My pleasure. I just sent an envelope a few weeks ago, and I'll have these en route by Tuesday.

Count me in for $30 via Paypal. It's already been sent.

I've pulled way too much good advice off this site in less than a month not to donate. Kudos to the editors.

I find it strange that Frank doesn't have a Paypal acc't.
Seems everyone else on the internet does.

Why have money go to another party, then be forwarded to you ??

Thanks basscliff for the link to paypal. Money is on the way.

Much easier... Paypal sent. Thanks Robert - another great service you provide :D

Paypal payment sent!

Thanks Robert!

And thanks Frank and all the GSR faithful who have helped me and countless others out:)!

I think it would be neat to have GS Resource T-shirts available with some portion of the cost going to support the site. This would be another source of funds in addition to donations.I bet many members would eat this up.
Any thoughts?

PayPal is indecently convenient, but it can also turn into a nightmare overnight that will cost you thousands with absolutely no recourse. Although they provide financial services, PayPal is (by careful design) legally not a bank, and is thus not subject to the protections banking laws give consumers. Their Terms of Service is a truly frightening document. They count on most people never bothering to read it.

Frank has elected not to risk becoming entangled with PayPal, which is a choice I can fully respect.

I have a PayPal account that I use regularly, but I have also taken steps to protect myself. No matter what, PayPal cannot access more than a small amount of my money, and I never keep much of a balance in my PayPal account. I've never had a problem.

The vast majority of the time, PayPal works beautifully. But if something goes wrong, it's a nightmare. The PayPal TOS allows them to take all the money in your account AND all the money they can access in linked accounts and cards whenever they wish and for whatever reasons they wish, and you are not allowed to appeal or to even learn of their reasons -- PayPal's decisions are final. Learn more here: http://paypalsucks.com

PayPal is great, until they're not. If you're going to use PayPal, just make sure that you understand the risks and you've protected yourself.

Anyway, I sent Frank a check several months ago, but it got lost in the mail (Frank confirmed that he never received it). Thanks for the kick in the rear, BC -- another check is on the way to Georgia! :D

Thanks for the reminder Brian. Just transferred most of my Paypal balance over to the bank. Better safe than sorry.:)

Donation sent last month

Hello!

How can I tell if my donation was received? I never got any type of confirmation - it was sent last month IIRC.

Thanks,
-Bob
