    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

what did you wrench on today??

Digging into getting the BMW R1100R back on the road after a long while sitting at my brother's house.

Replacing, among other things, fuel pump, injectors, all fuel lines (internal and external), fuel disconnects, the Hall Effect Sensor, brake lines, brake pads, tires, oil, filter, plugs. Getting the seat reupholstered and doing a cosmetic refresh of the hard bags. Eventually, I'll do a "cannisterectomy" and ditch the factory cat and muffler for a Delkevic.
 
Yesterday I wrenched on a 2013 Can Am Outlander 800R 4 wheeler! Does that count? Full service- brakes, brake fluid, coolant, front and rear diff fluid, gearbox fluid, oil change and filters. Girlfriend didn't let her ex husband take it when they divorced 10 years ago and it's been sitting in the garage ever since. Working decent now!
 
Got the tank off the BMW, have the fuel pump and filter off, cleaning some minor varnish from the bottom of the tank with vinegar/water right now. Taking the seat to the upholsterer this week.

In the meantime, changed the cabin air filter on the Kia and topped off the AC after discovering a leaking lowside shrader valve.
 
Getting ready to head out June 16th for a 15 day trip through BC ending up in Drumheller AB
So the ST has been getting some love, new tires, wiring check up, added a radar detector and today fresh synthetic oil and filter change....oh and of course a good detailing :)
 
Last weekend 4 of us went up island to Gold River...about 400kms and spent the night.
Check out the sidecar my buddy's dad rode up....and he's 88 years old!! :)




 
I did some work on my speedo/tach assy, I found these NOS parts,
the new face and 4 acorn nuts for the backside and the odometer knob

plus I got the little SUZUKI emblem by the ign key and the odometer knob

so I wet sanded it and painted it (matches my headlight housing), and also replaced the 4 little acorn nuts with NOS

Yep, the L eng & non OEM seat rail were the first things I noticed. Still pretty O.K. You do know that eng. has a little more up-hill power, Suzuki did that on purpose cause the "L" 's, with their tall front end & lower back end will always be going up-hill
 
After @Burque73 drug me out of my black hole of an office recently, got my fuel tank ready to mount, which will be the last thing before I get it registered, and start sorting out the minor details that aren't critical to riding, like wheel bearings.

Seeing a clean running version of my bike really got me motivated kick it over the finish line to "good 'nuff" for shakedown runs. Which this past week included picking the wrong fuel gauge sender, and swapping to the right one.

Hopefully I'll have some free time to dig out the right hoses to connect everything up and at least ride it around the yard. When did my life become this busy that I only make progress after everyone's in bed?

GK fork tubes are differnt size AND are spaced further apart.
They are 43mm and are spaced something like
3/4 inch wider apart.
Mounting the headlight and front t/signals have been the difficult part of dee-Kaying a GK, and why sometimes find one for sale half done.

Front fender not interchangeable either.

Let me know if you have the stock GK mirrors (fairing mounted) for sale.

Sweet! Then we'll have twice as many GS's on the local roads, LOL. For some reason they've all been in hiding around here. You just don't see them around anymore. One member listed a "T" for sale up north in Farmington, other than that one it's been years since even a local-ish GS sighting, by my eyes anyway.

It was great to meet you.
 
In the next couple weeks I'll hopefully do many things, including get one of my brother in laws bikes back on the road, show the other one that you don't have to sell your soul to the dealer, get my GS legal, and stockpile the freezers with food!

Nothing like being ready for life!

(And I already ordered the Honda M77 paste to fix the final drive when I replace the bearings... After I get things semi legal!) :)
