I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Seriously, you'd think it'd be easy: unscrew clamp to open gaskets and slide on, but no.

What's the deal?

Thanks..

lmao, im in the process of putting mine back in and said the same thing.:D

Patience, swearing, more swearing.....
If the rubber boot are not soft its gonna be a good fight.
You can soften them in hot water just before putting then on the airbox.

Or a hairdryer... :)

BTW, if the boots are old enough, and hard in any way, a lot of times they shrink back toward the airbox, and then the center two wont mount up properly. Best to buy new ones..

lol been there. i sprayed wd-40 on my finger and spreaded it on the carbs and inside of boots. after taking the air box out 5 times i bought pod filters. o ya by the way X2 on the swearing. beer helps calm the nervs a little also :D

Just get pods and send me your airbox, Ill see If I can figure it out.

LOL, IM LOOKING INTO THEM AS WE SPEAK....dam fricken plastic box, rrr....:D
Better look into a Dynojet kit along with it or you'll have worse problems than a plastic box...

Airbox experience?no that's not a band.

Airbox experience?no that's not a band.

Yes the first couple a times it is a learning experience. But some of the tips so far work.
#1. heat up the boots with a hairdryer, and grease them.
#2 No short cuts, get stuff out of the way, you'll have to learn what stuff.
#3 There is a trick about how to push the carbs in, but after about 10-20 tries you'll be know how to do that very well.
Welcome Bro.

thanks for all of the replies, gentlemen.

I will try the heating up method.

Plus the upper mounting brackets seem to get in the way as well.

What are pods?

was reading up on that, may have to try a little harder gettin that dang airbox in, seems like alot of trouble with those pods. i do have a heat gun waiting in the wings....lol

you know,Suzuki builds the best and the fastest bikes, hands down. So why couldn't the come up with a better air box? I've found it easier to put the air box in then the carbs. still a pita tho.

Shaftie airboxes are DEAD EASY to remove and replace.

IF you install new boots.

Order up some new airbox/carb boots. You'll be amazed at how shrunken and hard to old ones are. You'll wonder why you didn't do this first.

Word!

I recently refurbished my air intake system. My carbs practically jumped into the new intake boots. My airbox was so compliant I didn't have to utter a single profanity. Really! Yes, they are a little pricey to buy all at once but you will not have to do it again for another 25 years or so. I think it's well worth it.

+ 3, time for new intake boots. There is a slight angle going in that does make it easier. Other than that as long as you feed it in working around the harness wires it is an easy install. Be careful with the snorkel, you can knock it out of position if you try to force it.

Well I don't own a hair dryer, no need:-\\\
Couple weeks ago, I R & R'd my first set of carbs on my airboxed GS700. Pretty tough to remove. I did grease the inner lips of the boots before reinstalling the new set, just seemed like common sense. By the way, Super Lube, 100% synthetic is pricey, but fantastic stuff. And it's clear.

Now to figure out why it still runs like a piece of ****

well i got mine on and yep it is pretty easy if you ziptie the airbox nice and tight to the seat hooks....lol...i greased everything like everyone said and also used my heatgun to soften all the boots up, dont own a hairdryer either im half bald....lol...but it wasent to bad..thennnnn i ran into an issue, when i moved my clutch cable out of the way i put it through the wrong two carb boots to the head, ummmmmm is there a way to take this off and move it around?......dam i thought i had this too.....lmao:D

Just one of those things

Just one of those things

I just shove that buggerd into possition (carbs) squishing the boots on the air box side then push cabs into boots on head. Then play with the more plyable air box side to get them onto the carbs. I concur with cussing  and possibly stopping at some point to get another beer :D.
