A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Happy 4th of July 2025!

Already been to the beach and come home...the crowds are in full-force.

Time to trek to a cool spot and enjoy this non-humid/cooler day.

Have fun and be safe everyone.
Oh another Frank Phillips, Grandpa's brother was a Frank Phillips, "Uncle Frank". Our family had some kind of slight connection to the long time "Phillips & Robertson" funeral homes down in and around Nashville. You need to come to Norene, you need a good rider & at 71 some of mine need a good home, they sure don't get rode as much as they deserve anymore.... I try to never go west of here, Nashville, Mt. Juliet, Gallatin, Murfreesboro are just way too crowded for me, Woodbury, Smithville, Gordonsville, and Sparta are more my style... No kidd'in come on up sometime, Norene's got a little country store, we could have a bologna sandwich and cold drink.

My Dad was also Frank Phillips, as was his Dad. He was from W. Virginia, coal mining country. I grew up on Bologna sandwiches, so the genl store sounds great. my parents grew up in Augusta, GA. I’m 71 going on 90, born in ‘53. Military family, moved a lot. I certainly understand wanting to stay away from the traffic and such here. I’ll get back with you, drive the truck over sometime soon.

See this posting of mine about that:

Is was when I decided I was spending to much time here and not enough time on my bike.
Has anyone had problems with over fueling on a GS850gt BS32SS carb. Changed the float valve and seat still fuel leaks out at the back of the carb. It totally eludes me i have checked everything float height 22.4 mm etc
Eric, my cell number is 530-598-8966 if want to contact me about the parts.
Eric4, I left you a message on your post of the 650g you bought and that I have some you might want for free. give me PM here if interested.
Hello, I have a 1979 GS550e with a CV carb.(Maybe someone replaced the 79 carb with an 80)
I plan on replacing the current Chicom Air pod filters with UNI since i do not have the original air box. The pilot jet in the bike is currently 45.7. I believe stock is supposed to be 40
Do you have the correct pilot jet for these filters? (Rather than trial and error on my part.) Currently I cant get it to idle correctly and am ordering new O rings all around.

Hi, When fitting pods you need to fit air corrector jets which i have at ?37 a set delivered.
These go in the carb mouth air passage to the needle jet tube which is located at the 4 o'clock position on each carb.
The passage needs threading m5 x 0.8mm just deep enough for the jet to sit flush with the surface.
The pilot jet, needle position and other settings remain STOCK with only an increase of the main jet.
Your stock main should be 92.5 which needs to replaced by 132.5.
Rob.
Does anyone have a spare working Signal Control Unit for sale for a 1979 GS1000s?
