What about sanding between coats?I was getting ready to paint my bike and I was thinking about doing several coats and wet sanding each one until I get a perfect or very near perfect finish. Is this possible?Do I need any special type of paint?Like acrilic or laquer or whatever?I was planning to use ppg brand and was going with a non metal flake base and clear coat. Also can I spray and sand the clear the same way?
I've only painted one other bike(my last gs.10 years ago.)It turned out really good.I preped the bike well and took my time and it came out better than alot of slop jobes I've seen.I have 3 or 4 buddies that fix wrecked cars for my boss and a few more that do it for themselves. It seems to me that most of the painters in this area just do it good enough to get by and save a buck.Thats fine if that's what they want to do and can get by with it.They do ok but I want something better and I think I can do it.I think a little time, patiance and pride in your work can go a long way.
I know it will be a long hard job but I've got an extra tank and side covers so I won't have to be without my bike while i'm painting it.
