DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Have an opportunity to get a VMax. I've been hot for these since they came out. The only thing I think I wanted more was an Eddie Lawson Replica. This one is a 1997. I should be getting it in the next week or so. After 3 years, I finally got the rotation riding down on the two I have. Not sure how it's going to work with 3. I guess I'll find out. This one only has 13,000 miles on it. Windshield will have to go.

windshields are fine get a small one. I forget the cool name for them. its only bikes not mistresses.

Windshield will have to go.
Try it before you ditch it. That one is small enough that you barely see it, but will still do a decent job of deflecting bugs and small road debris away from your torso. You may actually come to enjoy its presence.

.

I would say that 3 bikes is not too many.
But any more than 3 batterys is too many.
And any more than 3 insurance policys is too many (especailly in Michigan with $200 uninsured/catastrophic charge per vehical).

I have my two current bikes licensed as antiques, so I only have to license them every 5 years. GEICO charges me $100 a year for insurance on both (liability only.) Not sure what it's going to go up to with the 3rd bike. I'm not anti-windshield, but I just don't like this style.

The tank is very small, but once you nail it, hang on and make sure you're on a straight road and you wont care how small the tank is anymore.

I have 6 bikes on my Geico policy, all 1100cc & larger (liability only) $204 pr yr., $49 pr.yr. for plates. Too many bikes, but don't know which to get rid of, probably the 2005 bandit should go first, least pleasure to ride. Not a fan of windshields, but my GSX1100G has a small one & I'm not taking it off. Now for the V Max, I never wanted one, didn't know exactly what they were, except big HP, not a sport bike, not a disco cruiser, not a standard, & what are those little hood scoops? are they actual hood scoops? They must be pretty nice & desirable bikes, as they've been making them, I think consistantly, since the mid 80's, just not my type. A buddy of mine had an "85" model V Max, a couple of yrs back, & sold it on Ebay, to a guy in Austrailia. They've got to be great bikes, & congrats on your purchase. Hope it's all good.

It might never end!!! Got a call earlier today from a guy that I just bought a 1982 Honda Ft500 Ascot from a couple weeks ago. He has another one that he was going to keep but decided that he was never riding again and just wanted it to go to a good home. This one was in slightly rougher shape but still less than 6500 miles on the clock. Going to pick it up on Sunday! So...?.I guess for me.....It does not end at 3!

Now the search begins for a FV500 Ascot, it's illegal to own one without the other.

I'll probably be illegal then.....never cared for the v-twin version. I just like the big thumpers! The new one will be for sale soon...?.. I hope!

I have 3 on the road.
1 - 81 XJ750J that I'm actually going to bobber out for it's too far gone for a proper rebuild... (I'm not spending over $2K on a $100 bike to restore it)
1 08 GSX650F which is going to be set up for occasional track days...
So if I do it right I'll have 5 by the end of the season...

How many is enough? just one more.
That depends on available storage space. I've got them in my garage, outside the garage in the family room and in my parents barn. The latter is for when my memory drops. I can have an awesome massive barn find in the future.

When the V max first came out the magazines were saying mid 10s at 125,hadn?t seen one yet so imagine my surprise when at a classic car cruise in locally a spanking new one showed up at the cruise. Beautiful maroon color with a small NOS bottle on the tank.Yep,hooked up and operating,he had some 9.80 time slips from Woodburn drags to prove it. I was impressed. Still a strong following for this bike.

Had an 82 Venture and was considering putting the VMAX cams and intake setup on it, never did come across an affordable parts bike.
