A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

i have been told that the gsxr is a very good upgrade for the forks
as far as suspension wise but not sure which ones or what years will fit
anybody got any info on this sure could use it here
thanks blu

i have 1989 gsxr 750 forks on the front of my naked 1981 gs 1100.
i also have a 1985 gs 1150 front end on my 1982 gs1100e (triple clamps and all.

the 16" front wheel from the 1150 makes it turn in really nice but its an awefully twitchy bike.

the 1981 with the gsxr front end is handling great (if i could just get the carbs werking now). however, since the 17" wheel is smaller and the forks are shorter, i had to bend my sidestand, and am experiencing some minor clearance issues. bike looks really cool though and even a really short person can get both their feet flat on the ground. since the front sits a bit low, a friend made some fork extensions out of aluminium. but i haven't used them.

this winter i will upgrade my front end to an inverted fork from a 1993 gsxr (using the gixxer triple clamps because of the larger diameter). my 89 gsxr brakes and wheel will bolt right on i'm told and the steering heads are the same length.

hope this helps

Just about any year will bolt up, ground clearance is the issue. Most of the later model stuff is very short. This plus the loss by going to the smaller 17" front can be a problem.

I did a Katana swap to my '83750E, I lost 1.5in on the forks but was helped by going 16" to 17" on the front.

Anyway, keep a close eye on ground clearance. Good Luck, Ed.
