A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

i just found a 82 gs550 in a junk yard near my house that has been there 2 weeks it has the same mag rear wheel as my 78 gs750 but has a much larger rear sprocket i counted 50 teeth i think i got them all (sitting at a funny angle) will this wheel work on my bike i would like the larger sprocket for easyer wheelies.the local dealer told me the largest i can get for my 750 is 43 and a 13 front and the 550 sprocket wont fit my wheel so any ideas.this 550 has a 16 inch the same as my 750

thanks

tony

Shouldnt be a problem get the axle and spacers etc with the wheel to be sure.

so your saying that your 750 wont do wheelies now :-k that sounds like you need to give your bike a real good tune-up. mine when stock would lift the front wheel easily and now only if I raise the RPM's above 4k and drop the clutch( which slips very badly)

nope

nope

it will not wheelie even after i put new plugs cleaned the carbs what else should i do i dont expect it to wheelie like my buell but i would think a 750 should come up anyway i guess i will keep trying

try using some of dinks suggestions from another thread

Haha to easy!!
best capacity is 1166cc, just bore the stock block out, cheap too only need ot buy the piston kit, they even supply most of the gaskets.
Rejet to suit, maybe de- restrict the intake side; I recoomend removing the stock air cleaner box and replacing it with a single pod filter, dial in th estock cams, or fit 1150 cams. Suzuki were notorious for the stock cam timing being out and sometimes by a large margin.
Dyna has always been considered the best option for ignition, I dont think it is worth it unless your stock setup has problems.
An oil cooler and/or a topend oiler kit is also not necessary but is a good idea.
The clutch hub is always worth an upgrade, at least have the springs in the back changed and it re-rivetted together to take the rattle out.
It is easy to pour cubic dollars into any motor, but is often unnecessary, unless you are after a specific target i.e. 1/4 mile times.
this would give an extremely strong streetable motor without over streesing anything that would then require the cubic dollar approach to keep it all together.

The 550 probably has a 530 chain. Get the front sprocket too, off the 550, and buy a new 530 chain. You might be able to swap out the sprocket hub on the rear instead of the whole wheel. I have a 16" spoke, 16" mag, 18"spoke, and a 18" mag and I can use the hub from any one of the wheels on the other. The 16" wheels are both from an '83 GR650 and the 18" spoke is an unknown, and these 3 have 530 chain sprockets.
