A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

What is your name please? Somehow our conversation in the messaging center has disappeared , would lik to get them in the mail.

"ozhoboracer" has been riding Suzuki GS bikes since 1976. Some of these model bikes have provided wonderful service . In the shed-amongst nine different Suzuki 4 cylinder machines there is a 1982 GS 1100G that has covered 280000 kms with only routine services and maintenance. It was used regularly on 2000 km journeys to cross the famous Nullabor plain -from South Australia across to Western Australia ,usually sitting on 120 km/hr for over 400 kms at a time ,without a problem -EVER!! Alongside the old shafty sits a 1980 SUZUKI GS1000S with only 38000 kms covered . It runs SO smoothly you can sit a cup of coffee on a towel atop the tank-rev the engine and no thing spills !! It is not hard to like the old solid feel of these bikes . The engines, as all GS owners would agree, are basically reliable -and most of the cycle parts are durable ."ozhoboracer" has SOME extra parts -so can help other owners with certain spares and replacement items (Used)

I did Rich, thanks for the message! I hope your family has a great Christmas!!
Hello there, I own a 1980 GS550E with only 4,400 miles and am in the process of rebuilding my carbs. Unfortunately, my carbs are not original to the bike but I'm told they are correct for my model variant. I understand you offer O-Ring & Jet Kits for sale. If so, please call me at 704-860-0952 to discuss ordering these kits. Thank you!

Not yet. I just got the valve cover gasket in earlier this week. Prob wont have time to check the valves until this weekend or early next week. But it's on my list of priorities! However, coincidentally, I adjusted the pilot screw in and out and got some interesting results. At 2.5 turns the condition worsens and the bike exhibits symptoms of being lean. At 3.25 turns out the problem is still there but way less prevalent. Might try 3.5 turns and see how it goes. 3.5 seems like allot considering the factory spec is 2.5.
Might all be for nothing anyway because I's sure I'll have to adjust it again if I end up needing to re-shim the valves. But at least I'll have an idea of where its happiest right now vs post valve adjustment.
The cold has hit and not in a hurry to do anything, will let you know but sell if you get a chance.
