DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

First I bolted the two halves together & gripped them in the lathe.

There you have it. Clamps for the fork brace.

Now I'm in the process of designing the cross bar that ties them together. Got a few ideas already, just need to make it look good, as well as functional.

Don't skimp on the thickness of the crossbar Greg. I made a fork brace before and there was a noticeable reduction in stiffness after I thinned down my crossbar to remove some weight.

Note to self: GregB is the guy you want to design a fork brace for your GS :D

Nicely done, Greg!

It's only been about 7 months

I'm not sure though. Looks kind of bulky & overbearing. Maybe because I don't have the fender mounted?
Any thoughts, critiques?

Not that I'm questioning your skills or the strength of the brace you made, but why, since you made it to spec based on your forks, did you not make a two piece brace rather than a five piece?

How would you ever install a 2 piece?!!! A THREE piece maybe! If you saw it you wouldn't even ask!!! It's THAT nice & a PERFECT fit! Ray.

Front half and back half.

There would be zero adjustability that way.

Nice work -

I am curious how it will change the handling.

Playa,

Who ever you are, your the man! That is great work!

Peace!,

Two piece. Made of one single billet split longitudinally. It allows for a much thinner, slimmer design with the same or better stiffness.
The problem with it is they're built to spec for a set of forks. Even if you had two sets of the same forks there's enough manufacturing slop in them you couldn't use it on another set other than the pair they were built for without the possibility of bind.

Probably overkill for a street bike, but if one had the means, and the bike was being built for a track mount, and you were cutting weight where-ever you could, it would be worth it.

I'm certainly not saying that his current brace is inadequate, ugly or any of the like. Its beautiful. Just wondered was all.

No other reason other than I happened to be looking at the ATK I had at the time.
And I need one for my 1100, which has a 750 forks & wheel.
