A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

i have a gs 1000 78, pulled the carbs, cleaned them, and reinstalled, but dont have the correct settings, # 1, pilot air screws, how many turns out for stock setting, and # 2, the air adjust under the bowl, i have it on two turns open from closed, the bike seems to be running out of fuel, and doesnt want to rev out on acceleration, i think my adjustments are way off, w/ no manuel, im looking for some specs, thanks!

The bottom screw should be about 5/8 to 1 turn out
Side air screw about 2.5 turns. Did you at least do a mech sync?
Is the air box installed?

ya, the air box is in, but it ran good for a bit, w/ some hesitations, and didnt want to rev, so i played w/ the choke while i was riding, it kinda would clean up, but be messy in other areas, it got to where i was in first, milking it to stay running, and it sounded like it was detonating, and it would pick up, but wouldnt rev out, im in the area of adjustment, you specified, 1 1/2 turns out on the pilot air on the side, and 2 turns out on the bottom adjust screw, i had gotten this bike for free, it had been sitting, w/ a broken vetter fairing on it, stock bars, and a black primered tank, and of course, no side covers. Ive found the side covers used, new paint, and a good cleaning, changed the bars to supergike style, lost the fairing, it actully looks good, but runs like a turd!, but i can fix it! w/ some good advice.

Best thing to do is check out Basscliffs website...their are PDF files of carb rebuild and adjustments..as well as more info than you'll ever wanna know about the GS series...in the "Carb Stuff" section of his site is a procedure for adjusting the mixture screws as well..great info their.

Dont know if He's been along to welcome you yet but heres the link to his site...
