I have a 1978 GS550 with the stock 4 into 2 exhaust. The left side exhaust has a somewhat large surface hole in it, probably the size of a dime, that is soon going to break through and be a problem. It's about at the end of the muffler. The right side exhaust is okay, except for a small little pinhole on the botom about halfway down the muffler. I'd like to replace the mufflers, and keep the headers. I like the way they look and all that jazz. BUT, i want to put some kind of muffler on, obviously.
I really REALLY like this one, http://www.dimecitycycles.com/vintage-cafe-racer-caferacer-bobber-brat-chopper-custom-motorcycle-exhaust-parts-17-inch-reverse-cone-megaphone-muffler-80-84030.html
The easiest way i can think to get 2 of those on would be cut the muffler off just past the welds and get a sleeve welded on. Right? That's about the only thing i can think of. My other option, would be to find a 4 into 1, but just the header..with no muffler on it..and put that reverse cone muffler on it.
What are your thoughts? I love the sound of that muffler, but if someone else has a good idea for me, i'd appreciate the shout. :dancing:
