A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hey all. Can anyone identify the liner/sealer in the attached pic. I am going clean and reseal the tank. Would like to know what WAS / IS in it before I begin. The pieces in the pic came out relatively easy but need to do a lot of prep before resealing with Caswell 2 part sealer. Thank you.

Classic example of not enough prep before coating. There was rust under the liner

Yep there was and is rust under the sealer. This is from the tank of my 84 Canadian Pop up Katana. Only 200 of these beauties produced so I want to do it right

Prep, lots of prep and watch for flash rusting after rinsing

When I did my gas tank, it was dipped in Acid magic. It would flash rust before you could get the tank dry. You can't get rid of all the rust. The Por-15 and I assume caswell, cover the rust and prevent air from getting to it. This arrests the oxidation(rusting).
I assume the Kreem is much more permeable, and does not create this barrier.

A rinse with water is the mistake.

Rinse with acetone or MEK and flash rusting is not a problem.

I rinsed with por-15 tank sealer and the flash rust was not a problem. It gives bite.
