A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.
A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.
Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.
Finally got the paint complete on the 1100E. I painted the tank and front fender about a year ago and just now got it back together after painting the rear cowl and side covers.
That rear rack is a PITA to install. You need 4 hands, tiny little fingers and a blessing from the pope to get it all lined up! Anyone that has installed one knows!
Looks great Ron. If you do think you might want to sell it. Give me first dibs, seriously.
I have a 82 but I chopped it into a dragbike when I was a crazy young man...
Now that I'm a crazy older man I'd like another.![]()
I just have to restuff the seat and touchup the grounds and I think it's ready to roll in the spring.

Any thoughts on what would have caused this "ground" to go bad?

Out with the cylinder hone, cut about a 40°cross hatch.
I had an '82 GPz 1100...
Hi Darryl, love ya work mate, detailed and spot on as usual. Parts on scales, that is Kat-nip to me, well done on the refresh and giving the 'G' a boost. Ya know that wasn't easy to say for me.
Cheers.
I had an '82 GPz 1100 that smoked, had the cylinders honed at a shop, put in new rings, and it smoked worse. Maybe they didn't check if the cylinders were out of round. I had it bored out and put in Wiseco 75mm pistons to make it 1166cc. Perfect. The EFI adapted to it without a hitch. Happy ending, but what a pain. Hope all's good with yours.
Thanks Tom. I'll post the results after she's run in. Fitted new rings and a hone + valve seals on the 750 two years ago and no smoke, no top up between oil changes. Used a special running in to assist with ring seating and was careful varying the revs and loading and unloading rings for the first 600 mi or so. Will repeat this process.
