A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hey Rob, I'd just as soon not put this out there about Chuck's bike for sale, but the step in the seat should be 2" or less, looks like somebody cut quite a bit out of the front, and no it hasn't just squished down that much. Center stand folded way too far forward, looks like it'd be hard to get it off center stand without help. Rear springs are wound way tighter than the OEM... Remember, as always just my opinion... Also for me, I've always liked the spoked wheel (standard) models better.

I have a 1982 gs550l and I want to run straight pipes with factory airbox. What jets should I run for this setup?
Ok...here is my private message about botm submissions. As you already know many of us have made suggestions in the past.
My suggestion is to post a separate thread that people can post their bike and story to. Then you can grab the submission you want from that thread each month. Most people, myself included don't go to the "homepage" ever...we just go to "new topics" when we open gsr. This would make it waaaaay easier for people to submit and not to mention better engagement.
You could even go a step further and have the guys here vote each month on the "BOTM" not unlike the "Pic of the week" thread that is quite popular. I'm not sure why admin continues to ignore these suggestions from it's members.
So many times we see posts asking for submissions....you would never have to ask if you made the changes I have suggested.

Thanks for listening.

Hi Nick, I'm in the market for a clutch basket and an ignition (preferrably with key) for a '83 1100E, any chance you have either of these to sell?

I have both. Keyed ignition and clutch baskets from 83 1100e. For the basket are you looking for stock or welded backing plate?

Hello everyone. My name is Archie from Grafton Ontario Canada. I own a 1981 GS 1100 EX that has been modified but needs some TLC to bring her back to her original glory.
kind'f hate to ask, but I keep looking at Redman's picture this week. I know it got to be simple but I can't see what I'm supposed to be seeing. I've looked at it upside down, sideways, backwards...Possibly 4 carb bowl drain plugs, but stick too far down for that. That piece of plank, or wood I'm looking across, my bikes have nothing like that, that I can think of. I know, if or when I find out, it is really simple but beginning to think maybe an optical seclusion of some kind. Any help appreciated... Then I'll be kicking myself for not seeing it. Oh yeah, congrats on the win.

I had to look hard too, the first time I saw it. See if this zoomed in version helps. We’re looking at a sea gull-infested beach at sunset. We’re looking at the scenery through the gap between the carbs’ 4 drain screw plugs above and the starter motor cover below. All of it together and the overall tone of the picture make it very abstract and hard to decipher until you zoom in. The weird shape at the bottom is the ribbed gator/ boot over the clutch cable end leading to the top of the clevis pin on the clutch arm linkage.

Thank you for the perfect detailed answers. I dont like the bandit look compared to my former gs 1000 and 850.
